Who makes PVA prefit barrels?

They used to sell barrels from other makers, but now it seems they are only offering their own in-house brand. Reviews seem good, but I’m still a little hesitant. I would feel better making a purchase if I knew who was actually making these barrels. Anybody have any info?

I believe they are making them in-house and not just a house brand sourced elsewhere. A lot of people have been using them for close to two years. I personally haven’t tried one yet.

I believe they still offer rock creek barrels but they are often out of stock it seems. I went with one of their ospreys and it’s a good shooter. Their machine work is great too, I just wish they offered lighter contours and more twist options on the ospreys they are a good barrel though.

Pva is the closest gun smith to me. They make the osprey blanks themselves, but at a different facility than the machine shop where they do their action and muzzle device work. When I was talking to them in January, they said they are phasing out the rock creek and focusing on their own barrels. I asked them about button vs cut, they assured me it wasn't possible to shoot the difference.

SH has a pva prefit thread, and @Lawnboi has at least one of their barrels.

I don’t know but mine are shooting well. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. Machine work has been as good or better than barrels actually spun up by various smiths. I’ll be buying another 6 creed next sale.

Both mine headspaced fine with go/no go gauge.

Osprey Barrel Works seems to be their house brand, but I thought they use others at the customer’s request.

Jon Beanland of Beanland Custom Rifles is doing prefits now with your choice of barrels. There is nobody that does better work than Jon.

How often do they have sales?

I got one of the Rock barrels he has on sale right now. It shoots! 1st outing and only shot 100g VT but…. Very happy! No POI shift from Suppressed to un-suppressed. 7 week wait but it was worth it.

I just got one for a Tikka PRS rifle. Its the on sale rock creek barrel in 6.5 cm and at 200 rounds I thinks its a good barrel shooting well.

Pic of the rifle?… or it’s a lie 😁
the rifle with a PVA rock creek barrel and a load dev target of 10 round groups all group are right at an inch moa. The barrel had 300rounds on it at start of load dev. I will probably shoot a couple of the groups again at a different seating depth.

I have four of their tikka prefit barrels, and sold a fifth to @bluumoon. All of them have shot phenomenally with factory ammo and have head-spaced without issue.

How do you like the tuner brake? I was going to try one but don’t really see the need for what I’m doing, plus I have the suppressor……. Wait…. No I don’t….. it’s a heavy tuner. 😳🤔

PVA blank?
PVA “Osprey” prefit that @slowelk had made. I think it’s a 22” #2 contour and had a built in flare at the muzzle (nice touch). Literally all I did was thread it on, torque, check w go/no go and load w 180gr ELDMs. Box ammo was a little slow at 2850fps. Hand loads are at 2950 w out any pressure signs, but accuracy wasn’t as good as box ammo, need to work on those a little.
