Who is Gunwerk’s target customer

@SDHNTR
I am now with you on this point. I just bought some ammo from Gunwerks (6 creed and 7SAUM custom loaded for $35??? Sign me up!!). Arrived today and here’s the tape on the box. The advertising runs strong….

Yep. Their marketing message is abundantly clear. It’s obvious what they are trying to do. I’m actually surprised there are so many supporters here. Their whole schtick is just gross to me.

I broke out my old Savage 99 today with a Weaver K4. Worked up a load that shot a 5/8” group. I had more fun and got more satisfaction out of shooting that rifle than I have in a long time. Even though I’ll likely never shoot past maybe 250 yards with that thing. It was way more fun and rewarding than banging away with my “1000 yard” guns.

I would argue that you can be a supporter of what they build and produce, and not agree with their marketing. That’s where I am in my rifle journey….

And what should their marketing be exactly? “Our rifles can’t hit a barn from the inside because you suck”?

They sell rifles and ammo tailor made for long range shooting, sell the optics with their own in house ballistic solvers to adjust for the atmosphere conditions at your shooting location and sell multiple long range classes as well as free online videos to teach you how to use their equipment to successfully shoot at long range. I can’t think of one company that offers a more comprehensive package that would allow you to shoot 1000 yards with the equipment as you receive it.

And their marketing isn’t lying, if you were given a Gunwerks rifle and one of their rangefinders I bet with minimal instruction on the Revic app set up you could easily be smacking targets well past 1,000 yards as the rifle comes from the factory. Because you are a capable shooting and know what you are doing, a newer shooter would require more coaching which is why they also sell shooting classes.

To you their marketing is gross because it annoys you that somebody can just go out and buy something you spent hundreds if not thousands of hours figuring out on your own. Your prior post proves it as everything you listed that a long range shooter should “know” was entirely about building and setting up a rifle and ammo for long range, none of it had anything to do with actually shooting.

From what I’ve read the Gunwerks rifles are geared toward long range hunting. Not necessarily long range shooting.

What distance do they consider long range?

If I bought a system, at what distance should I expect to be proficient at killing animals?

I looked on the site and couldn’t really find a number.
They claim 1000 yards out of the box. I would assume that is with them setting it up. I just purchased there Magnus in 300 prc and they set it up. We hit a 3’ plate at 1187 yards out of the box. I’m not a proficient long range shooter. I’d say a novice would easily kill at 600 yards with there setup and a small amount of practice. With some learning and practice, you could easily stretch that out farther. The value is only there if you have the money. I’d say you could easily setup a rifle to do the same for as little as 20%-40% of the cost of most Gunwerks systems.

So based on your experience and their claim. you think that someone with a basic background could by a system from them and kill animals in normal hunting situations in field conditions out to 1k yards?

I think at 1000 yards they would have to have knowledge of wind and quite a bit of practice, depending on the target species.
