I know there are those that do it, but are any of you willing to raise your hand and share experiences and loads?

I have a lot of experience with 6mm Rem and large northern whitetails but not elk. Nosler BT’s and IMR 4831 group best but I have used Partitions for most hunting applications. That’s where I would start for elk if I were considering it.

Just about every older guy I talk to around town here in White Sulphur Springs, MT has shot and killed elk successfully with a .243. Majority seem to shoot anything from 80-100 grain. They keep the shots shorter and make sure to get multiple rounds in them.

The “make sure to get multiple rounds in them” is the part that usually gets left out

I think Pat Sinclair used a 6 Creedmoor on a cow or two last year.

Course, give Pat a 22 lr and tell him to deal with a problem polar bear and he'd probably get if done with a minimum of drama........
