I carry a small Leatherman tool (squirt) which has pliers and a couple of small screw drivers. Frankly, the only time I have ever used it was to tension a trekking pole flick lock.
Skeletool cx here also. broke a blade digging a broadhead out of a tree. Leatherman replaced it and was in my hand in 7 days....great service especially after my fault.
BTW: worst ever owned was 6 different gerbers that all broke and not my fault....always snapped plier jaws...they replaced but junk imo
It has the inlay carbon handle scales. However the biggest difference is the CX is made with 154cm and the basic is made with 420 steel. it is night and day as far as quality goes. That 154cm is definitely worth the price difference.
I used to pack a multi-tool but now pack just a pocket knife. I have never once needed any of the extra tools, and they weigh a lot more than my folding knife.
I have this super mini leatherman that i got forever ago but bet the skeletool weighs about the same and might work better but not sure if i want to switch or not... Its been a thought for a while though...
I typically have the Gerber Dime on me all the time. I received as a Christmas gift a few years back. Its small and useful and I can cut boxes /packages open with it so I am not tempted to use my EDC knive.
Biggest difference is the 154 CM blade vs the 440 stainless in the regular version. Not much fictional difference but the better knife steel appeals my knife snob self.
I want to bring my Leatherman Wave along, but I am wrestling with the weight of it. It is one of those things that can do so much if needed, but most of the time never need it.
Sometimes Ill take the wave. Dont always use it but has been handy to have a few times. Thinking an upgrade to cx skeleton might lighten the load enough to always have it.
