So I'm normally a Havalon and folding knife guy, but I may swap the folding knife for a multi tool this year.

Anyway, who uses one for backpacking and what model?

Thanks!

I always do, I have a leathermen squirt, probably way smaller then you want. It may be small but weighs nothing.

Leatherman wave always ends up in my pack. I just wish it had a posi driver and wasn't so damn heavy. If I were to do it over I would get a Ti leatherman or possibly a Brooks Range

I carry a Leatherman Skeletool everywhere, and have another hanging on my pack. Can't say enough goods things about it. On one of my delta straps, I have a bit kit attached. Many of those bits will work on my bow if needed. Come to think of it, I sold my Longhunter, waiting for my Nomad, hurry up please.

always do... mines old school, leatherman supertool 200, bought it many many years ago, not necessarily what your looking for....there was less options back then. if it aint broke dont fix it kinda thing for me with still using it. its heavy 9oz but it feels like it wont ever break and holds a great edge. i have a expensive gerber that light and small but feels like it will brerak, i use it for work.

Leatherman Freestyle here, works well with a Havalon to change blades, just a small pliers and folding knife, that's it also only about 4 oz I think.

I found a leatherman wave out hunting a few years ago and bring that. My wife bought me the avid bow tool for Xmas. I am going to take that this year instead.

Old school here too. I carry my Original Leatherman. I got it for my 11th birthday almost 20 years ago. When it's not with me I always wish I had it. I have worn it almost everyday for the last 9 years and use it everyday. I take for granted that it's just there. I'm definitely feeling naked when I end up without it for whatever reason.

I always carry a Leatherman, I forget which model. It stays on my waist belt. I find it is much safer to use pliars to change Havalon blades when you have bloody, slippery hands. My trekking poles can use a tightening once in a while too.

i never used to. but when i signed up for a cabelas credit card they gave me this little tiny multi tool so i threw it in my chamber pocket. honestly forgot it was in there and have never used it. guess ill remember its there if the time comes i need it, it obviously hasn't weighed me down to much since i forgot about it until i read this thread. the havalon is a different matter. that stays in the kit multi tool or none

I have about 8 Leathermans that I've been issued at work over the years and I carry one of those. Couple Waves, a Copilot I think and several old school, big honking models.

I have been toting around a Gerber Dime. Really small and only like 2oz. Probably too small for any "heavy duty" work but it is nice to have in a pinch. Plus, it has a bottle opener :D
