Who actually makes what? In scopes?

The Zeiss S3 line and probably several other lines are made in Japan. Not sure if Zeiss owns the facility or just outsources but they are excellent scopes.

Zeiss V4 is a LOW product - very good scope line IMHO.

Swarovski and Kahles, although both of them get the blanks for their lenses from Schott.

Some Kahles products are not made in Innsbruck, I don't know where they are made. I know the binoculars are not made at the Swarovski plant.

Leupold cheapest lines are not made supposed to be made in America, at least that was the last I heard. Not sure if that is true or not.

Leica owns a factory here in Germany and one in Portugal. The majority of Leicas are made in Portugal.

Zeiss has scopes made in the USA and here in Germany.

Performance.

That is why no one is wearing American made hunting clothing.
