I have recently been searching for a good pair of hunting pants to buy before next season. I am a 20-year-old who primarily whitetail hunts in Kansas. I hunt mostly out of tree stands with anywhere from a 200-yard walk in to a mile and a half. I am looking for a pair of pants that would be good for around 35-55 degrees. I have TideWe bibs that I wear when it gets pretty cold, but they get pretty warm when it’s in the 40s or higher.

My main requirement is ventilation. I am not brand specific, I am just looking for a good quality option that ideally doesn't completely break the bank, but for a high quality piece, I don't mind spending up a bit.

I have looked into Kuiu Encounter pants, some of the King's camo lineup, and the Asio midweight sherpa-lined pants.
I am interested in some of the Asio gear because of their pattern, but thought the sherpa may get super warm on walk-ins. Would love to hear from someone who owns a pair

Thanks a bunch, guys. I appreciate any and all suggestions

Kuiu attack when on sale. Kuiu pants have the hip vents to dump heat. The Attacks are pretty much a mid season pant, Kutana is early season, and the Guide is later season

Sitka stratus bibs, kuiu proximity, first lite core, phase, or uncompahgre, kings wind defender. Anything that’ll keep me warm enough at 35-55, I’m packing in if my walk is more than a few hundred yards. Full length side zips vent good and make it easy to get on at the tree without taking boots off. Buy gently used from the classifieds to save some money.

Eddie Bauer guide pro lined pants. You can get them on sale for $50 throughout the year. Sitting in a stand in the 50’s requires nothing special or expensive. Get a good pair of base layers and you can get as low as you want before the bibs come out.

Agreed with Lxhuntinpa on the layering part—that is the only way to handle the Kansas temp swings.

However, for that 1.5-mile hike and tree stand hunting, I personally switched to G3-style combat pants. I've worn them on long walk-ins and the difference is huge: the stretch panels really help dump heat so you don't get sweaty before you even sit down, and the built-in knee pads are a lifesaver when you're kneeling on a metal grate or climbing sticks—they saved my knees more than once. I actually own a small tactical gear shop and decided to stock these affordable G3 options because they perform great without the painful price tag of the big brands.

For 35-55°F, just wear them with a mid-weight merino base layer and you are set. Good luck with the whitetails!

I used the Asio mid weight pants last year. Wore them from October to December, temps from 50s to 20s. They fit really well, the face fabric is quiet and the side zips are great to dump heat. Only criticisms would be the fabric doesn't handle moisture that well, and the thigh pocket design is pretty useless. Otherwise I liked them and intend to use them again next year. I do both stand hunting and mobile / still hunting so they are versatile enough that I don't need multiple pairs. Definitely want some lighter though if the temps are warmer than 50.

Kuiu Attacks are great. I love my Tiburons for warm weather hunts, but they suck in Kansas due to the hitchhiker seeds.
If the hitchhikers are bad where you hunt I'd research that for any particular pant you're thinking about.

IMO anything that is gonna keep you warm in low 30s temps needs to be packed in unless you hunt in the backyard. The kuiu proximity is decent choice unless you get cold easy then they may not be enough in my experience cause I get cold once I’m in a tree easy but I run hot on the ground so I have to pack all that in and put it on at the tree. I’ve even hung my sticks and platform climbed down to cool off then put my stuff on climb up and hunt..I like the fanatic but you will sweat to death doing anything other then sitting in that stuff
