Which Western Precision Sight?

Williams “Ace in the hole” is designed to work with the their front globe. The EABCO is not. In fact if you look closely at the EABCO, the front post height is critical to aligning the peep aperture on the pic rail. Models within brands constantly change. What was then does not necessarily apply to now.

This doesn’t have anything to do with me or what I post. Other than I was placed at “iron sight” ground zero when my Knight started eating primers when I was sighting in for my elk hunt. I literally had an Optima V3 overnighted so I could leave on my hunt. BUT when the Optima arrived, the factory had installed the wrong front post on the gun therefore rendering the sights useless. Not one to give up in a dire situation; I overnighted Williams Western Precision micro-adjust sights with target knobs. The Optima sight install took about 15 minutes. Bore-sighted at 50 yards and the sight adjustment was in the mid-range:

I am hoping that Williams starts making the micro adjust for the Encore again. I have a recurring search saved on ebay if one shows up there i will snag it!

Western Precision - Ace In The Hole (rear only)​

This sight and built-in scope rail are designed for hunters who want to mount a scope but want to use a traditional rear aperture sight after removing their scope. This particular Ace In The Hole is engineered and designed to be paired with our Western Precision front globe sight ONLY. This is not sold as a set and customers must purchase the Western Precision front globe separately. This sight is designed to fit CVA or Traditions inline model muzzleloaders. I'm gonna take one for the team and order this pic rail/peep combo and attempt to slap it on a new Accura MR-X. I won't have the front globe yet unfortunately as I won't be buying that until it's needed, but I'll try it with the stock front sight which I suspect the problem is simply height related.

It bugs me to no end that they make the western precision front only for direct mount.

They *SHOULD HAVE* made it to fit into a dovetail or made it to fit onto a base, then let *that part* be unique to individual guns.

I emailed them years ago and asked them about making one to fit a t/c hawken, but they didn't seem interested.

Lyman makes dove tail hooded front sights in different heights. It’s what I use on my muzzleloader.

I have one but ended up moving it to a .22lr (R513-T) because I just can't make myself hunt with a non-Fiber Optic front.

I even have the Shaver inserts for it. But at the end of the day I'd rather not have the hood at all, than to have to try to shoot in low light without the fiber optic front.

OK I got the Ace in the Hole pic rail and the matching front globe sight. Pic rail fits great, peep can be adjusted to stock height but can run a little higher also. Low end on both is pretty close, angle due to the way they're sitting in the pics throws it off a bit but it's close. Front globe sight almost perfectly fits the barrel, I'll probably wrap the barrel with sandpaper and carefully work it for a tighter fit but it can be shot as is without issues I think. Globe center is just a little bit higher than stock fiber optic but it's real close. I'm pretty happy with this set so far. Since I'll have it scoped I'll probably put the stock fiber optic back on and sight it in for backup purposes because that globe sight sticks out quite a bit. Pic rail has a bunch of screw holes and comes with really crappy little slotted screws.

Update: Would have been better off with a regular Pic rail. The peep is in the way trying to mount the scope as well as the space it uses in the rear is needed to move the scope back for proper eye relief. I moved the rear ring forward on the scope and it's right at the end of range for proper eye relief, a regular pic rail I could've just slapped this scope on there from one of my rifles. Live and learn. It'd be awesome for a red dot or holographic sight though but if I'm doing that I'll probably just use irons. Might be able to still stuff the peep under the tube with higher rings but these are already at the very top of the cheek riser for me to line up and would still have the eye relief issue needing to move the scope further back. This rail also wastes a lot of rearward space by not going further back. If you look at the Anarchy rail it stops right in front of the breech plug.
