A small diesel would be cool. I know a guy who still drives an old Isuzu diesel pup. He commuted every day 140 miles round trip since the early 80's. I think he retired last year. Basically he drove the truck his whole working life and is still driving it today.

I heard rumors that both Ford and Dodge are working on a Diesel engine for their 150 series trucks.

Please lord let that be true haha

Ford is bring their 3.2 L diesel to the USA in the transit next year. There is rumor that if it goes well they will offer it in the F150.

My 07 tacoma has been almost perfect. I much much prefer it to the pre-05's due to the room and 4 real doors. A rubber mat keeps the sliding to zero. I did add airbags to the back. With 32" LT BFG MT's and 2" lift I'm still getting 19 highway with the DC LB 4x4 TRD with a canopy. 21mpg w/ stock tires.

I had a T100 and loved it. But it had a 3.slow and got 13 mpg on 32's with no rear doors. I much prefer the tacoma. Just turned 110k. I'll buy another one when I wear this one out if they still make them. Might be 10-15 years from now before it wears out.
