Im looking for a new to me truck, leaning hard towards a 2008-2012 tundra. Anyone have any long term (150k) experience with them. The f150 died, so no more fords.

My F250 has 255 thou, not a single leak, and runs like a top. But I think you need to provide the types of uses, such as will you be towing, and how much? Budget?...

I ran my 07 Tundra to 130k with zero issues. It towed my boat and travel trailer really nicely. I was not thrilled with the fuel consumption and small tank requiring carrying cans of gas when running out to the desert. The 38 gallon tank on the 2016 Tundra was too much for me to resist and I'm getting better mileage as a plus. Now I can actually drive by a gas station and not have to stop!

I tow a 5K boat about 30 days a year, quad trailer 10 days a year, relatively short commute to work..

Been happy with my GMC's for the past 15 years. I'm running 2500's (3/4 ton) and towing a bunch loaded with equipment. Probably more truck than you're looking for. The gas jobbies get 12 - 15 MPG and the Dura Max's get 18 MPG. I run them till my accountant says that I need to write off another truck, anywhere from 35k to 150k.

Love my Tundra's. On my second which is a 2011 with no issues with either.

I just had a front bearing replaced on my 2004 Tundra and about 5 years ago I had to put $400 into the the 4-wheel drive. That is all I have done to the pick-up. With 227K on it, I have been very happy. That being said, I will be in a 2016 soon.

I just traded in my Dodge Ram diesel for a tundra. I've owned Chevy, Ford, and Dodge and every single one of them were nothing but problems.

Can you use chains on the front on the newer Tundra ? Chains don't clear on older Tundras.

I could chain up all 4 on my 2010 Tundra with oversized tires onstocks rims and no lift

My Dad has about 115k on his 2011, the majority of which are hunting miles. Its been a good truck so far. I would definitely recommend putting an aftermarket gas tank on if you get a small one, its nice not having to fill up all the time.

The new Titan diesel looks pretty sweet. It seems like every brand has some kind of problems associated with certain year ranges. I believe it's the 2005-2009 Or close to that range F150's that all have cam phaser problems once they hit a certain mileage. My friends have had good success with Titans. I've always had Fords. But my truck has been sitting in the carport with a locked up engine for about two months because I can't afford to fix it right now. It's a 98F150 with 185k on it.

I'm in basically the same boat - finally out grew the tacoma and looking for a '10-13 Tundra Crew. Gonna be a sad day to see my old toy drive off to a new home...

I love my GMC with the 6.0 except for the 10mpg city, I've gotten over 16 hwy. My brother has over 50 of the Chevy 2500's with the 6.0 and 40+ have over 200k on them and still going strong with only one having a major issue, motor blew up at 20k.

FYI the tundra and Titan don't get much better mpg then the Chevy/gmc 6.0 and the 2500 with the 6.0 have proven to be bullet proof in the iron block. I'd stay away from the aluminum or afm, the afm has tons of bad things happening to the motor after 100k, do a quick search.

So IMO Tunda, Titan or Chevy/GMC 2500 are your best full size gas options.

Been very happy with my '11, but I only have 72K on it. Most of that is towing a 4-5K travel trailer or small boat.

Only problem is I had the rear bearing TSB done and that is moderately expensive out of warranty, but mine was under warranty (if you test drive put the power on in a very tight turn (circle) without spinning the tires and listen for a grinding, I guess there are witness marks somewhere that can be viewed if the wheel ?rotor? is off on a lift) - I didn't really investigate it since I was having it done by the dealer.

As has been said, tank is small and the thing really sucks the fuel from that small tank. I towed the travel trailer from CT to AK and I think I stopped at every gas station along the way.

Agree with the titan diesel looks pretty interesting. I am partial to Toyotas and have a '08 Tacoma. If tundra ever gets that 5.0 cummings diesel that Toyota has been talking about I might take a look at one. That'll probably be out of my $$$ range though.

I have a 2010 Tundra with 156,000 miles on it. Runs like a top, no plan on replacing it anytime soon.
