Which thermal?

I’m in the market for a new thermal. I’m close to narrowing down on two.

Pulsar thermion 2 lrf xp50
Nocpix Rico 2 h50r lrf

Both are on sale for a good amount at Scheels. Both brands and models have been recommended to me. I don’t know a ton about them so I thought I would ask for further input here or if there is something else I should consider, please do so. Appreciate it in advance.

Have an older Pulsar and newer NOCPIX. I like the image and battery flexibility w/ the NOCPIX.

Looks like that pulsar is a 2x base mag and the nocpix is a 3x. What type of hunting are you using them for and are you using any other optics along with them?

I did notice that base mag difference which made me lean towards the nocpix. I will be using it for coyote hunting.

If I were doing a nocpix.. it'd be the mate. I have an atn and a guide 650 2.0 on the way. My pard runs a couple pulsars. I like the pulsar software better. Performance between our atn/pulsar is similar.

I was planning on the guide sensmart tb1250.....but the guys at guide talked me into the new tb650 2.0.

We do predator control for local ranches and find thermal to be the best thing ever.

I did notice that base mag difference which made me lean towards the nocpix. I will be using it for coyote hunting.

I’ve never run a nocpix, but I’ve heard good things. The clarity should be noticeable with the 3x base mag over the 2x and, with my limited knowledge, 2x seems low for any distance you would be using the LRF with a predator hunting cartridge. I do have several pulsars and really like the interface. The XG50 has the 3x base mag but it think they are getting hard to find new now.
The Late Night Vision Show podcast just dropped best thermals for 2025 in different price ranges. Could be worth a listen before you pull the trigger.
