last minute purchase decision...we have decided to order a bear fence for our upcoming hunt in Griz country...need to order like today or tomorrow in order to get before we leave...
We are planning on ordering one from Bear Watch Systems.....but can't decide which size we should order.. If we camp at the trailhead/road we will be using a 10x14 Kodiak Canvas tent, and if we camp in the backcountry there will be three of us… two of us in a Seek Outside Cimarron and another in a Big Agnes Copper Spur 2 person…

Should we order the Standard Plus or the 6 Pole system? (I'm thinking the 8 pole tent is too big for our needs...)

I've used them for a long time, more poles is better.

Make sure you have a tester and good ground....the small ground rods in these kits are sometimes insufficient.

The kits in the link come with a tester. What do you use for a ground rod? Would you just get the 8 pole then even if 40x40 is bigger than needed?

This is what my Bearwatch Systems Fence looks like with 6 poles. Honestly for large setups the 8 pole would be even better. The more poles you have the easier it is to keep the tensions on the lines as you set up.

This particular camp spot we did not use the full length of the lines . They are doubled up for aprox 10ft.

2 extra poles would get rid of some of the sag on the longer runs between poles.
