Currently have a 2011 hoyt carbon element, thinking about picking up a 2010-2012 hoyt bow to use as a back up or possibly primary once I get it set up. What bow would you pick? I am looking hard at 2012 vector turbo or carbon matrix. I would like to try a 35 inch axle to axle bow.

Thanks

I love my carbon Matrix RKT bow. Best shooting bow I have ever owned and I started shooting back when aluminum arrows was the standard and carbon just a concept. During retesting my tune - I robin hooded two bareshafts. That's about as accurate or lucky it gets.

The Alpha Burner is a nice bow, I just love the cams on it. I still have a 27.5"/70# sitting in the closet...in case anyone is interested.

I have a 2011 element as well and if I were looking to buy a back-up I would get another 2011 Element and set the valley and poundage exactly to my primary bow. Consistent form requires consistent equipt.

How old are we talking here? I loved the Tenacity & Striker II (1997-99)...the AM is a close second.

Was eyeballing the 2010-12 models and just picked up a vector turbo. Great point about two of the same bows for consistency.

I've got the hoyt vector. Was my first new compound in 20 yrs (started with compound then shot recurve for 15 yrs). I tried almost every bow manufacturer that year before picking the hoyt. Love the hoyt. It's been through the ringer and is great. Probably would get the vector turbo now but the love the vector cam.

I was wondering about how old they were talking too. A 4 year old Hoyt is just getting broke in! I am still shooting a much older then that Hoyt Cybertech and love it! I still see no NEED to upgrade. I do have upgraded components on it but it is very accurate and quiet so I just have not had the urge to upgrade.

I was thinking the same thing! I was thinking "old" as in "old." Not two years ago!

If we're talking about 2011 to 2012, there is a difference in the carbon bows. They stiffened them up a bit in 2012 and I like the feel of them better over the 2011's. I'm shooting a 2012 CE now and I'll be getting a Nitrum next time I get to Anchorage and get one ordered. But if you wanna go old school, I'm a fan of the Defiant and the Smoke and I'm building a SuperStar right now because I always wanted one back when they came out but never had one.

Now we're talking kodiakfly...loved the defiant! Almost forgot about that one! Also, I had a "Heat" that shot reality well....gosh, I loved those bows!

Reading the first few posts was a little shocking ha ha, those bows would be new to me.

I am shooting a 2004 vipertec and it shoots great. I shoot bh and fp at 80 yds together and feel confident with it. However I am just looking to upgrade to get some more speed and maybe save a little weight. Almost bought a used alpha burner and probably should have but I might end up with a used carbon spider turbo. Put a tommy hogg on it and it will be a great upgrade for me.

However when I looked at my bow hanging in the tree this morning I thought to myself "a new one wouldn't have kept that doe from blowing at you and running away" lol. Reality is a new bow won't help me kill anything and I don't even think it will make me a better shot.

First bow I shot was my Dad's Hoyt fast flight with an overdraw. 20 yrs and things sure have changed.

One of my favorite Hoyt bows of all time the Ultra-Tec with Spiral Cams. That was a flat shooting bow, it was an awesome 3D and hunting bow.
