Which NRL Hunter division should I try for first time?

After doing prs style shoots for the last 2 years I think I've finally worked up the courage to try NRL Hunter. Now I just have to decide which division to go after. (Registration for the match I'm planning to go to opens next week). I'm trying to decide between trying to make weight on open heavy or factory.

My PRS rifle is a Tikka 24" stainless ctr in a Whiskey 3 with enclosed forend, heavy bag rider, heavy xl arca, ARC Mbrace 20 moa mount, Zeiss s3 5-25, nomad 30 suppressor. I think if I ditch the heavy bag rider and arca, swap for area 419 mlok arca, scythe ti suppressor, and possibly put the polymer forend on instead of the enclosed one I'll be knocking on the door of 16lb. My other option is I have an acc premier g1 sitting in the box I was thinking bout going to this season anyway without any weights.

The other plan would be strip everything down and put it back in its factory stock with ctr mags, same scope and mount, scythe ti, and a srs arca rail. (Or change to a lrts 3-12 I have sitting if I need to cut more weight to make 12lb and now that I thin about it I doubt the Zeiss would make weight)

For a guy shooting his first NRL Hunter which class would you all recommend a guy start in my position?

Shouldn't be that hard to get what you have to make weight. I have a CTR barreled action, MPA one piece mount, kahles 624i, in KRG bravo, 1 stock spacer weight, internal fore-end weight, 1 pair external mlok weights, Full length arca rail (light), Arca spigot, atlas CAL bipod with RRS clamp, Sendit level, nomac xc with recoil x brake and burnproof gear cover. All that is a C-hair under 16#.

I dont think the whisky 3 is that much heavier than the bravo is it? The ACC g1 could work too. The g2 buttstock is lighter if you wanted to lose weigh there.

I need to find a more accurate scale but with the scythe I was sitting at 16-17lb last night when I looked with heavy bagrider, heavy xl arca, and no bipod. Should have added that too but I'll either pickup a mdt triple pull or use a tricer I have if weight is tight. I do have a acc g2 on a Ruger American I could rob the buttstock off of as well. Also how much are you having to hot rod yours to make power factor? The load I've been running in all my creeds is a 143 eldx doing 2650 from the ctr.

I use 144 Bergers. 140 hybrids with h4350 was too close to pressure signs or intermittent sticky bolt lift when safely meeting power factor.

Factory weight is now 13 lbs. beginning this year.

Don't get caught up in which division to shoot for your first match. Just use whatever configuration shoots best. If your heavy setup shoots best and it's over 16 lbs. then shoot Skills. Learn the flow and how to play the game because it's different than PRS.

Another thing, you can change your division when you weigh in at the match. It doesn't matter what you choose when you sign up.

whatever you choose, just realize that you're going to be spending the entire match trying to learn the game and don't assume you'll be competitive in your first match and then get jaded when you get smoked by a guy shooting a Mosin with iron sights.

I've never seen anyone score well in their first match. I've outscored a ton of people who are way better at shooting than me just by knowing the game better and being more efficient with time.

That said, there are usually more OH shooters than Factory shooters by a pretty wide margin, and worst case if you can't make weight just shoot skills. You'll miss out on the table walk but not getting that handful of Vortex stickers is a small price to pay.

How competitive are you at PRS? If you aren’t consistently placing 80+% at regional/one day matches, probably do skills. You will greatly accelerate your abilities doing so. I have watched wayyyy too many people come in and shoot open instead of skills and just struggle unnecessarily all match
