I love Omegas. I just bought another last week and one the day before yesterday. I can’t see the details, but no way I’d pay over $350 or so for that one (especially without any info/pics of the bore. If it’s in good shape and you could get it at that price, I’d throw that scope and rings in the garbage (or sell on eBay) and put something decent on it. Keep your eyes on GB.

There's very little if any out there reviewing 400yd shooting or beyond with the rifle.
That is not to say it's not a good rifle.
However, IMO if you need 400yds or more, don't impulse purchase. Read some reviews and ask for target photos.
Now some might say you don't need target photos...... yeah right, LOL. Accuracy is most important, and if you want to shoot 400yds or further, the rifle must be capable. Of course the trigger guy too.

Again, Woodman builds a good rifle, no doubt about it. However there doesn't seem to be much about shooting long range. The question was put to Mark and you can see the response.

That would be absolutely great if he shoots. We need all the competitors we can get. Very few shoot actual long range. He'll have fun.
He'll be shooting 800yds, 900yds and 1,000yds on the Saturday, and Sunday he'll shoot two relays at 1,000yds. Of course he probably already knows the rules from MM.
Hope he brings lots of propellant and bullets.
I'm ordering 600 Arrowhead XLD's on Monday.

I love mine. Never measured groups at 100 yards, but usually 3 holes touching. Will hold its own with my center fire custom rifle.

They are pretty pricey these days, but if you are looking for the best Luke’s stuff is hard to beat. Basically a system with his designed ignition system and Arrowhead custom bullets.

Man, you guys talking about paying $2-3000 for a muzzleloader makes me really happy with my traditions tracker that I picked up for less than $200 new. Bought a Williams sight from a buddy for $100 and it shoots lights out with a 420 Gr no excuses bullet over a dry cotton wad and 100 gr of 777

I have $2,500 ML that I’d shoot up against any center fire hunting rifle out to 400yards.. I used to say the same stuff but collected the parts up and built this one. $2,500 all in and I’d never go back. See 150yard target.
No smoke no worrying about corrosion
No worry about loss of animal, misfires, etc…
The most reliable ML I’ve ever touched and have touched as many ML’s as Clinton’s touched kids

TC encore for reliability and accuracy. I'm a bit different than most as I use a light bullet of 200 grains in front of 100g of BH. My average shot is set up for 200 yards. I have killed to 250 easy and punched paper to 350 yards.

Great rifle with much after market support i.e. Bellums Tc and Haus of arms to name a couple. MGM makes great barrels.

What bullet do you use? I’d like to shoot light weight bullets so I’m considering a 45 cal muzzy instead of a 50

I’ve had good luck with the 50cal CVA accura shooting BH209 and 330gr ELRs. Gun is easy to clean and operate. It’s a solid 200y gun with peep sights.

I’ve looked at the more expensive muzzleloaders and unless you’re going super magnum, shooting .45 projectiles fast and planning on taking longer shots, it’s not worth the price difference. If you limit your shots to 200y or so and shoot BH209, 50 cal bullet to bore is all you need.

If you want to shoot far get a cva paramount in 45 with a leupold rds (exposed turret model). My friend has this setup and we’ve gotten first shot hits at 600y when practicing. On the used market these can be had pretty cheaply ($600-800). If you want more performance get a custom smokeless muzzy.

Interesting… doesn’t the red dot start to take up a lot of the animal/target at long distances?
