What do people normally do for wind with SFP scopes?

It's not a big problem with scopes that top out at a relatively low power; just shoot at max magnification. Or if your scope tops out at 16x you can shoot at 8x and each wind hashmark will be double the stated value.

You can absolutely use the forceplex reticle for wind holds - check the reticle subtension dimensions and the best you'll be able to do is to use the edges of the thin center section as a wind hold, and maybe do a half-distance. In the case of the SHV forceplex reticle that would leave you with the edge of the thin part as a 2.5moa wind hold (based on NF's published subtensions) and you could split that for a ~1.25moa wind hold.

Will it be precise? No. Would I rather have that, than have the MOAR reticle that you can't see at all in the dark without turning on the illumination? Yes.

Like you, I don't shoot in a lot of wind. I do, however, shoot a lot of stuff near dark when I need to see my reticle, and I don't like trusting electronic illumination.

I wouldn’t over complicate this… scopes are personal. Depends on your style whats good. I used second focal NF nxs’s for load of years dont recall missing ever from wind calls. Knowing your system from putting reps in makes it natural like anything. I will say i definitely like the nx8’s better for parallax for my eyes and ffp I also like doing load dev and zeros at 20x so i can shoot small. 15 x the center cross covers a 3/8” dot i shoot at for all work at 100 and it fools your effort imop to see your potential… With saying that i usually hunt with my field of view according to distance to see a ways around animal to watch there path after if any… be careful if you buy the 2.5 nx8 for its limited mounting position for and aft, good luck.

Wish it was easier to try them all, out of the 7 centerfire I have the 2 that aren’t ported or have a brake are the ones I use the least.

Suppression is obviously goal number one but being able to reduce recoil still is a big plus.

I really like my KGM R6.5’s on my 6.5 PRC’s those little ports don’t look like much but make a huge difference. R30 is even better but on the heavier side. The added volume makes a noticeable difference though and if you have a 30 cal you might want to put it on they work great.

My smith is rethreading omega anchor brakes to fit AB Raptors, I just picked that up 2 weeks ago and and it made my 300 prc fun to shoot again, it might end up on the 6.5 prc. He is pulling the end cap off the AB A10’s and installing that brake on those as well, I don’t think you could get a better suppressor for the price

Omega was kind of the baseline everything was compared too for years, they really aren’t a bad can and the price is better than most, I don’t own one but have been around several

If I was to buy a new one today I’d look at the unkown reaper with a brake, only downside I see to that is the need to time the can to the barrel, not a huge deal if you don’t plan on swapping it around on guns. Would be nice to see a radial brake option for the reaper down the road to make it easier to swap around on guns for the guys that don’t have multiple suppressors.

Scythe TI checked all the boxes but the scythe failure thread worried me and it’s just going to live on my 260

KGM R6.5, AB raptor 8 with anchor brake, ultra7

On a 24” barrel in 6.5mm, I recommend checking out the Airlock ZG 6.5 and the US OG 6.5. I’ve used them each on 24” barrels and find they work well. I much prefer them to 6” options on a barrel that long.

Everything I have the barrels are 18-20” and in folding chassis’s. After my first season packing my Tbac7 around the woods on a 26” barrel and traditional stock I said I’d never do that again and chopped all my barrels down after that season

The OG is louder than the OG 6.5. They aren’t the same can. The OG is not louder than advertised (it was advertised at 133 dbA), but it just isn’t a very quiet suppressor. The OG 6.5 is a much better product (unless you need a can for a larger caliber).

My buddy was just approved for his 6.5OG on Monday. Excited to go try it out, my boy is getting a Gen 2 T3x 6.5 prc for Christmas. Debating cutting it too 20” or getting him the 6.5 OG and leaving it at the factory 22” length. I’ll make the call once I have the chance to get to the range with him

Listening to the podcast about the 6.5 as long as your 7-08 is theades straight they say you can shoot it in the 6.5 OG, they just said check it first with a rod.

300wm I’d look for something with some sort of brake or port. My 300 prc sat the last 2 years until I just got that brake on the raptor. My kids enjoy shooting it now it tamed it so much

I would not get an OG for a 300 WM. I’d look at using a 6”+ suppressor, like a Reaper, Nomad, AB Raptor 8/10, etc. for that cartridge. Or maybe… wait and see how the Airlock ZG 30 does when it comes out.

This is not me kidding but being serious.

Lot of data coming out about concussive blasts with firearms causing cte. I would be very careful with having a kid whose brain is still forming shooting a big boomer. Especially with a muzzle brake.

I would suppress it at the very least, and consider a smaller caliber until he is an adult.

If you are dumb enough to think that muzzle breaks don't equal brain damage, then I can't help you. Just know that with each loud noise/muzzle blast that you endure that you are losing IQ points.

Not dumb. Ignorant. There's a difference. I agree that the data appears to support the position that muzzle brakes do contribute to brain damage, and I'm in the "no more brakes, probably ever" camp, but it's definitely not widely known or obvious that it definitely causes brain damage.

Also, it would be a good idea to spell "brake" correctly if you want to call out others' declining intelligence.

I am super pleased with my AB Raptors, but if I were buying today for a 6.5mm bore (especially with a long barrel) I'd be looking at the Airlock or the Unknown OG6.5 as mentioned by Q. Reflex (OTB) is legit performance gain without added length.

I have 6 suppressors and currently have an AB raptor 8 with 5” reflex on my 6.5prc. It has been fantastic.

That said, I have a 6.5 zero from airlock ordered. They have upped the game imo and offer great suppression in a small package. I plan on using it on my 6.5prc and my AB raptor moving to my 375 full time.

It's similar to hearing protection in general back around the mid 1980s and earlier - guys just didn't understand that permanent damage was occurring with every shot. "Kids, women, and sissies" would just spitball a little paper-towel bit or TP chunk, and put it in their ears "to keep shots from hurting". We've come a long way.

Would this be the first supressor for yall? If so, is it dedicated to this rifle, or will it be moved around to others?

If it's planned to be used on a variety of rifles, boltband gas, a boring but versatile, durable and proven, but slightly heavier option may be a good fit too. Omega, nomad, enticer, ptr vent1 etc.
