I have a question for those of you who have hunted in Southern Arizona.

All of the underbrush there is nasty, but the Cat Claw is the nastiest stuff I've ever hunted in.

Whch KUIU pants hold up to the Cat Claw the best?

My attacks survived that stuff with no rips and I found myself in a sea of it on several occasions. The fabric does have a lot of burrs and runs because of it, but no tears. I would definitely not subject Chucagh rain gear to catclaw though.

Living here and going thru cat claw a bunch, I can assure you that NONE of the kuiu or Sitka will hold up to continuous cat claw. Best bet is 511 pants or jeans. That cat claw is some nasty stuff. I try to avoid it at all costs, and if I have to go thru it, I just expect my kuiu or sitka pants to have new "runs" in it when I am done. Honestly, I am not usually as worried about my pants as I am my arms. I hate picking thorns out.

If you are set on wearing Kuiu thru it, I have had the best luck with the tetons. I think they are a little stiffer than the attacks.

No hunting pants will survive it. Get a pair of Carharts if you really want something that can stand up to it. They will survive but there are trade offs. They will be heavier and hotter.

Thanks for the replys guys. Anyone else out there with some experience with Cat Claw and KUIU pants?

I lI've in southeastern AZ and I have the tiburon, attack, guide, teton, alpine, chinook. The tiburon and attack pants have alot of burs and pulls but I have never got rips. I haven't been out in the alpine pant yet. The teton have held up really well not as many burs and the guide pants handle really well threw most anything in my opinion. Aslo the Chinook have handled really well. Those two pants are obviously a heavier pant for later season. I ordered a pair of prana zion the other day and although I didn't go threw cat claw I did bust brush and oak brush with them and I was really impressed! That is a great pant for the money. Keeps you very cool as well.

I have walked through some nasty stuff with my Prana Zions, even got them caught on barbed wire and they are no worse for wear aside from a few small pulls and runs... might be a good option to look into if you aren't hung up on Kuiu or camo pants. Plus you can usually get then for 1/2 the price...

Carhartt Double Fronts. Dont't get Moss Green, looks too close to Border patrol, and no need for that excitement.

Never hunted in AZ but I've done some some desert and mountain hunting in West Texas with plenty of catclaw. I would echo the above comments. Go with the Tetons if it's KUIU but 5.11s will hold up a lot better.
