I think all the newer iPhones have satellite capabilities for SOS so I will definitely be sticking with apple for now.

Android only for me, Backcountry Navigator has been my go to for so long I'm not Interested in switching, or paying a subscription fee to use something else.

I have a Iphone 14 for work and a Galaxy S21 private. 100% take the Galaxy over the Iphone. S21 is 3years old no issues with ONX and have generally had better reception than the Iphone sitting next to it.

Take it with a grain of salt but never been a fan of Apple products....This is my 3rd Iphone thru work and hated every one of them.

I have had more luck with my iPhone running basemaps smoothly than I did with previous android phones.

In a few years, it won't matter what phone you have as much as which carrier.

AST Spacemobile is starting to put cell phone tower satellites up.

Starlink has plans to copy ASTS and reconfigure their satellites to send and receive cell phone signals.

DenverCountryBoy is correct, although before long I don't think it will matter which carrier you have as well, as it seems a lot of them are working on this already.

Not sure if anyone was watching the first NFL game last Thursday, but Verizon ran a commercial about being able to "text from anywhere via satellite." Looks like it is only available for Iphone 14 and newer with iOS 18, and will be available on android next year.

I've always ran samsung galaxy phones and outside of the few that broke (both were my fault) I've had pretty good luck with them. They take great pictures as well. Service is always hit and miss up in the mountains regardless of which phone you use though
