Had (still have it) Garmin 60csx and liked it but thought I should update so I got a Montana 600 on sale, has the touch screen, it took a little time but really like it a lot. It is kinda big and heavy but very useable and has a large screen for my old eyes.

I use a Garmin 60csx and if I had to buy today (and they were still available) I'd probably get the same thing. It does everything I need it to do. Not a fan of touchscreens. Or perhaps I should say they aren't a fan of me.

I use my phone most the time. I've been using the Backcountry Navigator app for a few years with really good success. This year I'll be trying the Delorme Earthmate app, which has land owner information included.

I also have the Garmin Rino650, and have been happy with it, except the screen is small.

Garmin Dakota 20. I'm looking to upgrade this year. (The Dakota 20 is for sale in the classifieds for anyone interested).

Garmin 64S. Spent hours upon hours researching before buying and the time paid off. Holds a signal in the thickest timber. Had a rhino, a 60csx, and a Vista which were all good, but can't compare to the 64S for signal.

The 64 doesn't have an altimeter, which is a deal breaker for me. The 64st has preloaded maps that you pay through the noise for when you can get green for free or if you use a chip won't usually layer anyway.

More than you asked in your post, but that's why I'd still go with the 64s.

iPhone with GAIA beats the GPSs I've had. The touch screen on my Garmin Oregon 450 was broken when I got back from Alaska last June........so rather than another expensive GPS, I just spent $20 on the app. You can install it on 5 devices so it is on three iPhones, the iPad and a laptop. Heck of a deal and nice to have aerial photos of the area you are in. YMMV

Garmin 62s. Been a great piece of equipment. Never had a problem losing signal. Lasts about 3 days with continuous use before needing new batteries. Get an OnXMaps chip for it, and your set! I tried the birds view prepaid program, I thought it was very difficult to use and really bad imagery. Just a heads up on that incase you were looking at that program.

I use the Garmin Oregon 450. I really like it, it works great but if I could go back and do it all over again I would go with the Garmin Montana. Only reason is for the bigger screen.

Just last year started carrying a Montana 600 and have the Xmaps hunt card also. It's definitely a big step up from my old Garmin of 12 or so years ago.
