Hello all, I’m sitting on two actions and want to get a prefit for one of these two. Just want opinions as I’m having a hard time deciding. I have a tikka t3x stainless from a 270 and a kelbly atlas lite la 308 bolt. I was originally going to do one in 280 ai and one in 338 wby rpm. Which would you put the prefit 7mm backcountry on and why?

Are tikkas even approved for 7bc?

This is kinda my hesitation. I spoke to two barrel companies this week. One said they wouldn’t do it because they had issues with a tikka in 277 fury they did. The other company said no problem.

The guys were talking on the S2H podcast a few months back on an episode about the 7mm BC, and said that Seekins had to redesign their action to accommodate the additional pressure. I wouldn’t want to chance it with a standard Tikka action if it were me. Buy an action designed to handle 7mm BC and turn your existing actions into what you originally intended.

I would contact Kelblys and ask them if their action can handle that pressure and if so I would use theirs.
They have two barreled actions in 7mm bc on their website so I figured they do. I tried to reach out to them on Thursday but didn’t get a hold of anyone.

I'd build on a bat igniter long action, 1-1/8" tenon diameter, use a 1.250 shank barrel(have to with larger tenon anyway). Get as much meat around that bitch as possible.

I have two Origin LA. If I had known the 7bc was coming out, I would not have ordered a 280AI barrel (still waiting). I want a 7BC badly.

Weatherby offers the cartridge in their 307 line. I think most M700 clones should be ok.
