You live in a state that can't decide if it wants to be a Midwest or western state because residents can bowhunt mule deer and whitetails on the same tag, and also get a pronghorn tag. You goofed and missed all the primary and secondary draws, can't time the leftover tags sales correctly because life. You want to hunt out west again, you have the first 2 weeks of September off. You have the option of taking your recurve or rifle that would allow you to hunt black bears spot and stalk or luck out and camp over a gut pile. What state are you thinking about to specifically bear hunt, DIY. Mainly just wanting to get back in the mountains, but want to have the possibility of an opportunity to tag a bear.

You can buy a leftover bear tag and rifle hunt Colorado. Call the Parks dept and see if you can also use a bow if you want while having a rifle tag. It may be possible. Hunt a western slope or south central unit. Good luck. If you kill one, try to kill two.

Idaho. Don’t know if fall tags are OTC, but wouldn’t take much to find out. Second choice would be Wyoming.

CO, scrub oak country with choke berries. Lots of fall bears in SW CO just west of Durango and south of Pagosa Springs
