Where to buy in Montana?

Thanks for the input. It appears that the consensus is the anywhere along the Bitterroot Valley.

I live outside of Houston so I’m looking for a place to get away from the city. Can be near a city, but I’d rather sit on my porch or near a fire on my own place than be in town.

I own a business in Houston that affords me the flexibility to work remotely for extended periods, but still requires my presence much of the year. I also have a 7yr old so I don’t plan on moving in the foreseeable future.

I don’t need the property to have all of the utilities I listed, but would like to be able to have them installed within my budget. Since I will not be driving to town daily or requiring winter access I am open to more rural property to stay on budget.

I hear Scobey is nice!

I’m pretty sure Scobey falls short of several of the items on my wish list. Though I have hunted south (well south) outside of Broadas a few times. Stalking muledeer and antelope in the broken country with a bow is fun.

For the things you have listed, I would lean towards Hamilton or Darby area south of Missoula. I loved it when I lived in the area. Ag communities, rugged mountains on the west side, rounded hills on the east side of highway. Missoula to north for airport, I-80 to head anywhere. Other than AK, I love it there best.
With that budget? Now? Not happening in the Bitterroot
