I’m looking for a good bear hunt with a bow. Never been but have always wanted to go so any tips or places to go. I’m all ears

They bait in Idaho and many parts of Canada as well as Alaska. You have lots of options. Are you looking for a guided hunt or over the counter? In Washington, you can get two bear a year, otc rag.

California. Please come kill a bear here. Otc public land. Sit water sources or berry patches in the b and d 3-5 zones. Or walk 4x4 trails in the nf. I had multiple encounters last fall before and after harvesting my bear.

Are you being serious? Thought hunting in Cali was super hard to get in. I have family in the north and would love a visit / hunt combo trip.

It’s not hard at all to hunt CA. Same as any other state, buy a license and tag then hunt. Bear tags are otc and the season starts in August in most zones and goes through December.

just don't post pics of your success, on your legal hunt, on social media unless you desire to be crucified by the batshit crazies

OK thanks. Have heard access is the big issue. I'd be based in Humboldt. Also trying to plan a drive up to Oregon for elk in 2020 but that's another thread to come...

Lots of good bear hunting in OR. OTC tags starting in Aug. and runs through the end of the year in most of the state now.

I might be biased because I live in California but I honestly believe it would be one of the best options based on bear numbers, no limit of over the counter tags, and millions of acres of national forests

I would go Canada on a spring baited hunt. Lots a good priced hunts in the eastern provinces. Western ones are more expensive. In the US I would look at POW, AK

Then you don’t have to go far buddy. Great bear hunting literally right outside of eureka. Cutten has bears all over. Any clear cuts with berries from cresent city to Garberville you can get access on. Anywhere along the Mad River with access. Just watch out you don’t creep up on a 420 operation. I grew up in Eureka. I left cause I saw what meth and H was doing to my hometown and unless you take over a family biz or want to grow pot there’s not a great path towards a fulfilling career. Beautiful though. I still miss the redwoods and awesome place if you love the outdoors.

Thanks again all. Did a little looking again and found that the northern California counties boast some good bear harvests.
I have heard about the illegal deep forest grows.
And yes, if I do the Oregon elk hunt I'll have bear (and cougar) tags as well.

I hunted bears near Shasta lake a few years ago on a seep a buddy told me about. Place was over run with bears while it was hot. I waited til mid october and the rains arrived the same day as me! Was a bust. However, up until that day the bears had been coming in daily for 2 months straight!

My father in-law goes to Idaho every spring to bear hunt. He uses Elk Spring Outfitters. Don't know if your wanting to go through an outfitter, but if you don't mind you can look them up on the web at elkspringoutfitters.net.

For ***** sake Humboldt county is crawling with bears. Just stay outta the dope patches. Plenty of public land to explore.
