Where can I shoot lots of does for cheap

I just want to get some meat and enjoy the whitetail woods, maybe take a trip with my son in the next couple years and get him on some deer. I know everyone's managing for big bucks, surely there's some places where they want to thin the doe population later in the season. Any leads/ ideas? thx
Maryland, Kentucky. Just need to buy additional tags.
Ok, their rifle season is over before you can go, but Maryland has (or did have) an antlerless weekend in January.

Alabama. Good population of does. Liberal doe bag limit. OTC non resident licensing, no tags, in some locations season runs from October (bow) thru Feb 10th.
Like any public land hunting might take some planning. I will assume you want public and not wanting to get into a private lease as you mentioned cheap.

Wisconsin has a couple December doe rifle seasons. 4 days statewide like the 9-12th depending on the year and half the state has a holiday doe rifle the 12/24 through 1/1
That’s tougher coming from out of state because doe tags are county and public or private specific. You’d really have to be dialed in and there’s not much public or going through an outfitter to make that work. Door knocking is not an option here.

How much of Georgia and Alabama is public? Thought most was Club country? We used to do Texas, but the prices went way up after covid.

Depending on where ur at, always worth knocking on farmers’ doors and see if they have crop damage tags that they want filled. Of course, this is just for freezer filling purposes

Any east coast state will have a ton of doe tags. I’m from Maryland, and as was already mentioned, we get 15 does and 1 buck (an extra buck tag is $10 I think). I think the only reason they have it as 15 is they figured no body will be able to fill that many tags, so it is basically like no limit.

But to add, our rifle season is always two weeks with the Saturday immediately after Thanksgiving being opening day.
truth right here

Yep. I used to be able to go on meat hunts and shoot any species of doe for $500 per animal. That also included lodging, meals and game care. It was freaking nice before Covid.

As others have mentioned, Alabama. From mid-Oct through early Feb there is no limit on does...except the limit of 1 antlerless per day. There may be some limitations on WMA specific hunt dates for firearms. As a bonus, parts of the state are in the rut during Jan/Feb. With such a long season you have the option to hunt early in the season where you could pick a WMA and learn your way around/scout a little, then return for a hunt later in the season.

Georgia has an advantage in that does taken are not limited to 1 per day like in AL. I haven't hunted public land in GA so I can't speak to it.

Any Southeastern/Midsouth state is going to be a decent option. AR has a liberal bag limit and lots of public land. But if you’re wanting to use a rifle I’d either say hunt the “alternative” (muzzleloader and straightwall) season or else plan a hunt later in the season or during the week to avoid crowds.

Some western states that consider whitetails invasive occasionally offer a lot of whitetail tags. Wyoming did this year.
