That'll teach you to not take your handgun off before sitting on the crapper. I take mine off because it's such a pain to try and hold my pants up while tucking my shirt in.

Buddy had this exact same thing happen at camp. He went in and undid his belt only to have the holster slip off and down the hole.

Problem is he had the balls to come in and instruct that he was going to hold someone by the ankles to retrieve his own gun.
Nobody begins to trust him enough for that.

I always tell people there's a good reason to have a strong magnet on a rope in the outhouse.

Guy I know walked into an airplane bathroom and there was a pistol sitting on the shelf. Federal air marshal had gone in to do his business and set his pistol aside forgetting to grab it when he was done. Guy reported it to the flight attendant. Pretty much told to keep his mouth shut about it.

Sounds like he is doing a good job at it too.

Back to Air Marshal school. Its rule, don't leave handgun in toilet.

Had a friend who came upon an unfortunate river user in a similar situation at a VERY popular COr river take-out [read 'well-used']; said rafter had dropped his wallet with all contents including drivers license, cash, cards etc into a forest service/BLM pit toilet and he still had a several hour drive home ahead of him. He was beside himself as his family stood around trying to decide their options.

My friend allowed the river user to dredge out the wallet with his longer canoe paddle. It was a successful. The paddle got a good washing - not certain about the wallet.

I’ve dropped a few phones through the ice while ice fishing/spearing. Spearing i got them back. Tied an ice scoop to a telescopic tree pruner. One phone sat 4 hours before I rescued it. Soaked it in rice and it was fine.

In the middle of an unseasonably hot Alaska summer with an impressive hatch of mosquitos, my dads buddy dropped his glasses down the outhouse hole on the Tanana river. My dad asked him how he did that and his buddy replied “I always turn around and look down the hole!” What ensued shortly after was an episode of my dads friend holding his 10 year old son by the ankles and through the hole to retrieve the glasses. Boy was I glad my dad had perfect vision.
