The NMG&F has done a very nice job on stocking our lakes in SE NM with 'eyes. Unfortunately the water temps and conditions are not conducive for a natural spawn. Or so i've been told. But they are still fun to catch and taste as good as any Erie 'Eye i've ever had.View attachment 550097
The trouble with Erie walleyes is, they can sometime taste kind of muddy. thankfully a soak in milk helps some.

Used to be large mouth and small mouth only. Then I went to Champlain and it was so good it ruined my local lakes. Then I bought a bigger boat and got access to the Raritan bay/ocean and the striper fishery have me from surf and boat from march - may until fluke starts getting good in June.

Went freshwater 2x last year, this year I started doing more fresh water again, going to Champlain in 2 weeks is exciting, but the saltwater has me for good. After Champlain fresh water trips will go way down. Start stacking fluke in the freezer. Another bigger boat being worked on, looking for some sea bass and tog to come too.

I live 30 miles from Erie so I go quite often. Walleye taste good but fight like wet socks. I'm jealous of you trout guys. Every steelhead I've lucked into put on a show jumping and fighting.

Sometimes when I AM hunting or riding I take a break from either just to fish. Nothing quite as relaxing as watching your bug of choice drift on top of the water until ..... WHAM! Trout fishing preferred but that's probably a result of my environment.

Very nice everyone! Our Dungeness crab season opens Saturday, and (hopefully, fingers crossed) the king season starts in a couple weeks. Then onto Pinks and Cohos late July into October. Then onto deer, elk, then deer again. I'm going to be a busy SOB this year.

I don’t eat them, but catch a lot of big trout out here in Idaho between the end of duck season and the beginning of deer season.
