When do you throw boots away?

I was wondering when everyone else calls it quits for their hunting boots? Do you resole them instead?

Mine usually get tossed once the tread wears off and the rubber rand is peeled away. I’ve got a pair of Crispi’s holding on for dear life.

I think pics would be illustrative in this thread. I don’t have any pics on hand but I toss them once they become a liability (not waterproof, tread loss) or can’t be repurposed.

As long as I like the boots, I'll wear them into the ground. I have a pair of Zamberlans that are going on year 14, they've been in need of a resole for a few years now. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I have a pair of dress shoes that are 36 years old. They have leather soles. They've been resoled three times. The left shoe has a hole in the leather bottom about 1.5" across. I just last week bought a new pair of dress shoes. I'll tolerate quite a lot to not have to spend money. I am my dad.

Good question. I've never thrown any away. They get broke in so well they become camp slippers or maybe dry day short hikers. I do replace them every few years though. Th moment the welt cracks between the sole and the leather or really anything that doesn't keep your feet dry, there quickly replaced. I've got a lot of miles on some of my boots. Hard to let them go I guess.
