What's your standby Whitetail hunting knife?

This will be my go-to hunting knife once I make my Dad a replacement. He didn't quite click with this due to the handle size and he likes a clip point blade. I made this out of 154cm stock with elk antler scales. He will get a clip point with larger handle and I'll take this one since I really like the drop point blade shape and the handle fits me well.

Backup is a vintage Western L66 boy scout knife that I picked up at a flea market. Pretty good skinning shape with a pointy tip if needed.

a pair of Buck 110's have been my resharpened mainstays for the past 25 years. Anything new and sharp is what I prefer nowadays.

Browning folder . Has two blades for zipping and cutting and a saw blade which has been handy for trimming small branches if necessary.

Benchmade Steep Country for me. Love the jimping up front. Perfect size for my preferences. I have to sharpen it every 3 or so deer. Field dressing and skinning only. I butcher with other victorinox blades. (Pic from knifecenter.com)

I have an old fixed blade gerber. Cheap knife and soft steel but it sharpens easily with a rada wheel sharpener and stays sharp for an entire deer deboning gutless method. I use a havalon for skinning. Haven’t gutted anything in years

Whatever Benchmade is in my pocket at the time always works. Sharp is the key.

I use a old M2 steel Gerber ( with toilet paper roll and electric tape sheath)
And a m390 spyderco
Plus I keep a carbon steel Moraknifv ready for backup

Life is to short and some days to cold to carry a beautiful knife with crappy steel

I've used a lot of different knives over the years but a Buck 550 Selector 2.0 always rides along, with a selection of spare blades. The Cold Steel Pendleton 3v Mini Hunter completely processed a couple last year and was still popping hair afterwards. I like rubber handles. I've got a 3v Master Hunter too, but I carry it while hiking and camping, not so much for working on deer. Mora's do a great job too for the minimum investment, especially the carbon steel ones.
