I want to like it, but my Nalgene Ultralight leaks. Does no one else has this problem? Don't really want to buy another to find out.

Just submit a warranty claim with Nalgene and they’ll send you a replacement

I use two to three smart water bottles. I'll pick them up the week before the trip. I have some of the flip caps that I replace the screw on lid with.

I have been using GSI microlite 1000 and really like it. Fan of insulated. Helps keep water from getting hot and from freezing. Gotta replace the stock cap with camelback cap though, I can’t stand the stock cap.

48oz Nalgene w/Hardside Hydration insulated hose is my go to. I tuck the Nalgene into my internal pack so it is less prone to temperature fluctuations and stays warm in freezing conditions.

Pack an additional 48oz Nalgene with electrolytes, and a Grayl Titanium bottle for emergencies.

What are guys using in the winter? I typically use a Nalgene and put it upside down so the threads don't freeze but was thinking of an insulated bottle. My 1l manna and yeti are too heavy

For cold conditions where freezing is a concern, I've had good luck with a Nalgene in an Outdoor Research bottle parka OR a Hydraflash 32 oz (https://www.amazon.com/Hydro-Flask-...5&sprefix=hydroflask+32+o,aps,200&sr=8-3&th=1)

Do the people on here that use plastic water bottles, i.e. SmartWater, etc actually wash them out? Seems like a hard thing to do with a tiny opening.

I mainly use Kleen Kanteen, and Owala, but have been looking at Orca 34oz Hydra.

I periodically bleach and air dry.

I love a small mouth Nalgene - heavier than some, but no matter how the pack is loaded or stored, it won’t leak. I’ve been with a guy that had a light weight bottle spring a hole - when you need water and have a liter soaked into your gear it’s such a pain in the butt I doubt he will ever put himself in that situation again.

Primarily wide mouth Nalgenes. Also, having a mouth piece in it is highly preferred. Much easier to drink fast and not dump water down the front of myself.

I've started to like the Platypus collapsible bottles. I like the fact that they get smaller as you use them, and your pack just keeps shrinking as you finish off liters of water.
