I am using a Rangemaster CRF 2700-B Rangefinder right now and it works great. It is crazy accurate and gives me quick readings when I am hunting with my bow and later in the year when I pick up a rifle for longer range hunting. I get quick target ranges on the first button pushes and never have to worry about bad readings or thermals throwing off the rangefinder. With all the different brands and technology on the market right now I would love to hear your go to rangefinder and why.

I haven't gotten to try out a ton of different ones but I have a sig 1800 bdx that I couldn't be happier with. It has illuminated display, angle comp, bdx, and the best part, I only paid $175 on midway for it Also I primarily bowhunt but the bdx system is pretty cool for rifles

I really like my Leica CRF 900, but also use a Sig Kilo 2000. The Sig eats batteries for some reason, even when it's not in use.

Leica 1200. Simple, small, long battery life, ranges way way farther than I shoot.

Lots of great range finder options. I found a cheapo Nikon that must have been laying in the sun and snow for two or three years from fading and mouse teeth marks. Picked it up and ranged past 500 yards immediately, battery was still OK and the thing would have worked just as good as my Leica for 90% of what I do.

I run a simple Leupold RX-1000i, bought it maybe 10 years ago? I've never gotten any ranges beyond 600 yards or so. Still on it's first battery! Love the red display. The range will change depending on the color of targets, at 50 yards up or down a yard or so. No angle compensation. It's fairly no frills. Want to get a Sig one of these days but always have other things to spend money on first.

Sig kilo 2000. Use it for bow and rifle. I’m still using the same battery since they came out. I’ve been carrying a spare battery for 3 years. Single digit weather makes it a little cranky though.

Mine will show "full battery" on the screen and I'll put it away for a couple months and pull it out and nothing shows up on the screen. Put in a new battery, and it's good to go.........until it's not again. I'm literally on my original battery with my Leica, and I've had it since 2007. I got the Sig maybe 2 years ago, and have already replaced the battery three times.

Have you tried when that happens just to open the battery cover and replace it? Curious if a poor connection vs drained battery? Either way I'd send that in for inspection. Same as the poster above I'm still on my original sig battery 3-4yr later.

Running the SIG 2000 and am pretty happy with it's performance, reliably shoots out to 1,100 yards or so but beyond that it depends on the conditions. I did have an issue with the battery cap loosing connection but was taken care of by SIG, from what i understand it was a common problem with that run of 2000 units, haven't had an issue since.

Just read pods8 responce, i agree 100%. Before the battery cap replacement/upgrade mine would work fine one minute and then nothing the next. Take the battery cap off and put it back on and the same deal over again.

I’ve played around with a few rangefinders. I think Leica’s compact units are the best when it comes to ranging accuracy (tiny beam divergence), speed, and size. However, most of my hunting is with a rifle in open country, so I like units that make bullet drop calculation fast and easy. The G7 BR2500 is what I’m using now. For rifle shooting, I don’t think any other rangefinder offers a faster, easier, solution and it’s beam divergence is almost as good as Leica.

Leupold RX1600i w/DNA. Much superior for a mountain bowhunter (compared to a Leica 1000R) and apparently the latest Leica hand held. Look at the S&S test/comparison at a very recent bow shoot. Leica is still flawed with their programming that:

—-First displays the line of sight distance, then gives you the horizontal yardage 2-1/2 second later. All I need is the horizontal (angle corrected) yardage and I want it instantly.
—- won’t give you angle corrected yardage in scan mode, rather it spits out line of sight. Useless in the mountains for bowhunting in my opinion.

The Leupold I have has the programming done perfectly for what I desire. Size, weight, accuracy all are fine and optically it is adequate (though not as crisp as a Leica).

Back-up I take in the truck just in case is a Leupold TBR 1200. It has failed to function in extreme cold so I keep that in mind, keep it close to my body in cold temps.

Only had my vortex razor 4000 for a few months now but love it so far. Ranged a tree at 3995 just this afternoon.

Leica CRF 2000-b, love it. Extremely accurate, picks up targets a lot smaller than a lot of other rangefinders i've used, and batteries last forever.

I've been really happy with the Vortex Impact, it's their cheapo model but it does what I need it to. Compensates angle, and reads out to 800 yds.

Slightly off subject but what are some thoughts on picking up an older Swarovski range finder? Is the glass and reliability enough to outweight newer tech options? Been seeing them listed in great condition for $300-400......
