Shot my first Black Bear in PA with a .270, but now I carry a 300 win mag because 300 win mag.

The 270 Win is my favorite and I've tried a lot of different cartridges. Your 270 WSM is more than enough for any bear you'll find.

Good luck, it's such a fun hunt and you'll have a blast. There's a good thread somewhere on here talking about shot placement. Bears die fast when you double lung them but if you screw up they are tough customers that can take a lot of punishment.
