So I looked through some Athlon scopes and was super impressed with the mid to higher end models. Midas 2.5-15 BTR was clear, nice crosshairs. FFP on many, prices decent. I’ve seen a custom gun builder using them, but not a lot.

I just bought a used Bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16x42 for $350, that is the most I’ve ever paid for a scope. Yes I can buy a swaro Z8, no I’m not going to. I can get dropped in the Brooks for sheep for that price.

So focusing only on Athlon, not telling me to save and buy an SHV, Swaro, etc who has experience with Athlon?

I saw some discount prices at cameraland on the 1-6x for 250$ and I'm curious as well.

I just bought an Athlon Ares for my 308 and I truly love it. It’s way more clear than any Vortex viper I’ve used in the past. Only thing I have left to do is make sure it’ll track well. That was an issue when Athlon first came out, but I’ve been told they fixed that issue. I look forward to this scope, and it’s the first I’ve ever purchased with illuminated reticle and I’m impressed by that as well on this Ares

coop22250 I am in the same boat as you with optics. I have had vortex razor, zeiss, swaro, schmidt bender, march but my last 3 optics purchases have been athlon. For me athlon delivers 98% of the performance of the top tier companies for a fraction of the price. the ares 65mm spotter I have is on par or better than yesterdays zeiss 65 for $500. Just recieved an ares etr, side by side comparison with vortex razorhd they are equal to my eyes for less than 1/2 the price

OK, Here's the skinny.

Athlon is offering a wide variety of Binoculars, Spotting scopes (Their Cronus Tactical has a reticle in it) and riflescopes from 2nd focal plane entry level hunting scopes up through high end tactical FFP scopes and everything in between.
They came on the scene about 5 or so years ago. They offer the same lifetime no fault warranty that everyone thinks should be offered.
They have some products that mimic others at 20-40% less with superior quality control.

Here are a couple of product reviews posted on another forum:

Argos BTR riflescope - ATHLON Review thanks to Doug!!! - 24hourcampfire

Ares Spotting Scope - Spotting Scope Review - 24hourcampfire

We also have a slammin' deal on their Argos 4-20x50 reduced from $319.99 to only $159.99 and did a post with combo deals - Athlon Riflescope & Binocular Combo Sale

Oh, they also just released a bunch of new products - Athlon Optics New Product Announcement

Thanks those look great. I’m thinking about trying one of the 4.5-27 Midas, solid to look through.
