At some point today, I lost my Benchmade Mini-Bugout I had it clipped to my pants pocket and then when I got home it was gone. I’ve been going crazy trying to find it as it retails for about $150.

I’m curious what is the most valuable thing you’ve lost, either of monetary value or sentimental value?

Doesn’t necessarily have to be hunting related.

I really haven't lost anything valuable i'm careful and probably a little lucky. A buddy I used to hunt with put his Beretta Silver snipe over/under on the roof of my topper while pheasant hunting in South Dakota about 20 years ago as we were sorting pheasants. We went to another field hen we got to the next field about 12 miles away we realized his gun was gone and what happened. We walked the ditches that entire distance looking for it and finally figured it fell on the road and got picked up. We let the county sheriff know that it had been lost and if it was turned in to let him know. Three years later the road grader operator while crowning the road dug it from the ditch and turned it into the sheriff. He got it back but it was worthless after 3 South Dakota winters. It really made a grown man cry and ruined the trip for him.

I lost a deer head yesterday.

Went by carwash to pressure wash 2 heads, at buddies house for a few hours, went to get my heads from the truck to score them, and one was missing.

1)- I was a dumbass and left at carwash

2)- Came off back of truck on the road, I haven't had a tailgate for 3-4 years now, just have a ratchet strap across the back.

3)- Neighbors dog came over and grabbed it off the truck.

Ends up I knew the owner of carwash, they checked security and when I left carwash both were on my truck.

So now, it's of the other 2 options, I had convinced myself I was just an idiot and left it cause I was in a rush.

I have lost a lot of stuff tho, expensive handheld release and $300 two way radio come to mind, for lost while hunting.

Think I have lost my mind too, but that's probably obvious to most here.

that’s sucks! I think I’d rather assume that someone picked it up and got use out of it, rather than getting it back years later in terrible condition.

It’s not the same as a shotgun, but I’ve left a Makita impact driver, a yeti cup and I’m sure several other things over the years on my bumper and lost them as I drove off

Zeiss Rangefinding Binos...in my bino case, with my license and everything that had my address and all info that could be used to get them back to me. But someone decided they needed them more than being a good person. I had got back to my truck late and set them on the rail of the bed, loaded my atv, and must have forgot them, went back as soon as I realized they werent in my backseat the next morning, and they were nowhere to be found.

Ouch! I lost a pair of 10x42 Nikon EDG binos in similar fashion...someone else needed them more than me also.

Lost a MP Shield 9mm in a clearcut bird hunting. Fortunately I had my Alpha 100 on. Went home and trimmed the Route from start to where I knew I lost the gun. Went back the next week, followed my route on the gps, flagged it as I walked and looked. Nothing on the first pass, found it on the trip back about 20 feet offf the flag line.

Took my wedding ring off before my hunt and switched it for a rubber one that doesn’t make noise and I have no clue where I put my wedding ring. I have looked everywhere.

Man, I can't believe I'm reading this right now. I went on a hike a couple days ago and lost my little Kershaw that I also had clipped on my pants pocket. At one point during the hike, I stopped to take my gloves off and instead of putting them into my pack, I just stuffed each one in both of my front pockets, I walked a little further, then stopped again to pull my Nalgene out of my pack to get a drink. While I had my pack off, I decided to pull my gloves out and put them into the pack. The only thing I can figure is when I pulled them out, my knife came with the one that was stuffed in my right pocket and fell into the snow somewhere. That night when I discovered my knife was gone, I decided to wake up early the next morning (before going to work), and drive up to the trail head in the hopes that I would find it there where I parked. I spent about 15 minutes walking around with a flashlight at 0500, but found nothing. I work 12 hour shifts and I've been working all weekend, but I have tomorrow off, so I'm going to make the hike again and keep my fingers crossed. I've had this knife for about 20 years now, always have it in my pocket, and use it daily. That, coupled with the fact that Kershaw no longer makes it, so the only place I've been able to find one is on Ebay and they want over $100 for it used. It's not the most expensive thing I've ever lost, but it's been many, many years since I've lost anything, and this is killing me!

Sweet little Nikon ED50. Positive it was in my center console, I left my truck door open and someone grabbed it out of my truck in the middle of the night. But there was enough time until I noticed, I'm not 100% sure and hoping I'll find it in a storage bin or something.

A mate of mine i was hunting with lost his old mans leica binos. At least they were non-rangefinding
Ironicly he put them down to range the deer,
after shooting he went to butcher the animal
wasnt until a few hours later he realised he had misplaced em and tried retracing his steps to no avail.

Lost my dog on new years eve. Damn dog chased a deer while we were out bird hunting, while out of town. We were visiting relatives for the holidays and stopped in this little town for the night on the way home, and took the dog for a spin on some state land nearby. This was before gps collars were a thing, and right when cell phones were becoming more common. I followed his tracks in the snow for over 10 miles. My wife had dropped me off to go into town, and I called her and told her I didnt know where I was, but that Id left my orange hat hanging on a branch where Id crossed a paved road south of where she left me. My phone battery died. It started snowing really hard, it had already been dark for several hours. My headlamp was almost dead, and the tracks were totally filled in so I couldnt tell what was deer and what was dog. Finally I couldnt even see tracks any more. Giving up was about the most crushing thing Id ever done. I was crying like a kid sliding down that hill back to the road. My wife saw my headlamp and pulled over. I got in and plugged my phone in, and about 8 seconds later—before I could even tell her what happened—it rang. It was a lady a couple miles down the road who had my dog tied up in her stable. She’d called our home number on his collar, gotten our house-sitter, who gave her my cell #. Apparently he’d just wandered into her yard an hour before.

Not me, but my son lost his friends Super Redhawk .44 mag., bushwhacking up a steep mountain while on a sheep hunt. He apparently didn't snap it into the chest holster he was wearing, and on one of the many times that he had to bend over to get under brush, it must have fell out.

Left my Glock 23 on top of my wife’s Subaru after a hike last year. Didn’t realize it was missing till the next day. Backtracked all the FS roads on my way back, never did find it.

Left a pretty nice tripod on a nasty spine way back in a shit hole. Had glassed up some
elk several miles away, and ended up killing one. Never have made it back in there to grab it.
