Whats the first bow component to upgrade?

I'd disagree and say ditch the biscuit and get a drop away.

I think we are not clear on what is currently on the bow. Are the components you listed the upgrades or the existing? If they are the upgrades, what is currently on the bow?
My apologies for the confusion - the components I listed are the ones I already _have_

These are my current components:

QAD Hunter drop-away rest
"Little Goose" trigger release
Tru-Glow 5 pin sight (plastic)

I neglected to mention that I did get it restrung last year, I cant remember the brand but it was not the cheapo bottom-line.

Sorry for poorly phrasing my OP

Nothing wrong with QAD rest. I've shot once since 2009. I just recently got a Hamskea to try, but don't have any time with it yet.
I've also been shooting a little goose for as long as I can remember. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but nothing wrong with trying other styles. I will say that once you get the poundage set the way you like, put some glue on the set screw. One year, mine backed out and was so sensitive I launched a few arrows unexpectedly on draw before figuring out what was going on.

If you were going to spend money on an upgrade, I'd try a slider site. I like a 3-pin.

I would learn to shoot what you have and spend the rest of your money on applications trying to get a tag. But that’s just me.

Sight and arrows/components then for sure

I’d keep shooting the accessories you have for now if you are grouping 4” at 40 yards. That is archery “minute of angle”…..good accuracy for a hunter. That is assuming the sight is all aluminum with steel pins and not plastic. And the sight pins have a fiber optic aiming point. I don’t know if that is the case with yours?

Make sure your broadheads fly to the same point of impact as your field points. Have a good broadhead target and verify this. Verify the bow tune, broadhead and arrow selection with a good broadhead accuracy. Just don’t group shoot with broadheads or you may destroy too many arrows.

I’ve successfully hunted “everything” big game wise with a set up fairly similar to yours.

Release was an Itty Bitty Goose for maybe 15 years….finally bought a B3 Hawk as I like the hook vs the jaw as well as the sear vs the toggle. But the Itty Bitty Goose worked very well (and still does).

I shot a Black Gold fixed 5-pin sight for about 10 years before getting a 5-pin Black Gold Ascent slider a decade ago. For hunting they are the same sight. For targets it is nice to shoot further hence the slider.

I’ve used the same Ripcord Code Red drop away rest (cable actuated) for 16 years and have a 20 year old version on my backup bow (wasn’t called a Code Red then). They work, are fairly light etc. I did carefully degrease the mechanism before polar bear hunting in -40* temps.

I never use a stabilizer but shoot a bow (10-year old Prime Rival) that holds well without one.

I shoot factory Prime strings…they have worked fine for me.

Anyway, your components seem OK and you shoot them well. If something isn’t working then change/upgrade. But if it’s working I just keep using it and focus on hunting rather than new gear.

Thanks to everyone for theur advice!

Y'all are restoring my faith in the interwebs

(Someone please mercilessly flame me so I dont get my expectations too high....)

I went to my local shop yesterday and had a great talk with the guys about new sights - to upgrade my plastic difficult-to-adjust base model. I think it's gonna be my Father's day gift <g>.

Thanks again everyone!
