I find it nearly impossible to beat a 140gr ELD-M loaded in a 6.5 Creedmoor as a do-everything setup. Launched at Creedmoor speeds, it is everything one would need for game animals from the muzzle to 600 yards. Easy on the shoulder, as well.
You can also get all kinds of readily-available factory ammo with different bullets if you have a desire to use different bullets for different situations. For example, my particular 6.5 Creedmoor shoots everything from 120-147gr extremely well, and I have used both the Nosler 120gr Ballistic Tip and Winchester 125gr Deer Season XP ammo with great effect at <300 yards and these loads are perfect for an area I deer hunt yearly where shots are 250 yards or less.
Truth be told, I could choose the 147 ELD-M, 143 ELD-X or even 142 ABLR in place of the 140 ELD-M and do every bit as well as a one-load hunting rifle. I just really like the balance provided by the 140 ELD-M a tiny bit better than the others.
