Killing game animals at distances many perceive as too far.

Plenty of guys shoot LR at all kinds of targets and never kill anything though. I want to get back into LR shooting but I'm an archery hunter, so would that still be stunt shooting? I also love shooting the bow at LR as well. Punching paper at 20 yards with a bow is much like punching paper at 100 with a rifle. That gets boring.

I think it would be fun to part one out sometime, but there are some quality semi custom factory rifles out there. They dont even break the bank anymore. My M48 Patriot shoots less than .30 MOA and I haven't even reloaded yet.

So what does "stunt shoot" have to do with getting the best rifle for you ? Are you grinding some personal axe here ?

Nope, no personal axe to grind. Just hate seeing the animals we hunt shown no respect whatsoever...

Back to the topic. I love odd ball obscure calibers. That means several of my rifles are semi customs (new barrels etc) I have a few factory rifles that I like but I also love my full customs. The tolerances are tighter from most of the high end action manufacturers and factory actions seem to preform better after blue printing. If I was a casual shooter or hunter there would be no need to build a custom. Savages are nice to tinker with as I can order pre made barrels stocks recoil lugs etc. order headspace gauges and do most of the gunsmithing myself. With simple tools. Other actions I'd need to invest in more specialized equipment. I have everything from super heavy varmint rifles to lightweight long range rifles to sporter variants. Luke makes some valid points buy a factory rifle tweak it to fit your needs and rock on if that's what you want. Shrek likes to build I have some of both. My favorite go to game getter and super accurate paper puncher is the same rifle a custom built off a surgeon action. In 7mm-08 ackley. It's my own conception built to fill a lot of roles. It's exceeded my expectations. I recently bought a nosler factory rifle that has given me fits. It's currently in bend getting checked out. I suspect I got a bad lot of ammo but it may be the rifle. Great value for what you get (hopefully mine gets straightened out) nice trigger great stock nice barrels overall nice package. Kimbers are nice. With the lack of quality control recently with big green I wouldn't buy a new one myself. Tikka make a nice accurate light rifle that's an excellent value. My favorite rifles (factory) are browning a bolts though. Good accuracy several options and the only thing I've done to most of them is replace the factory trigger springs with a timney spring. The one exception was to tear a safari rifle down and build a sporter weight 7stw found a factory unfired stainless 7mag barrel had it rechambred and put it on my action. It's the most accurate rifle I own. Out shoots several I own that cost three times what I have in it. Spend your money how you want on what makes you happy and performs in a manner that fits your needs. If I didn't love velocity and odd balls I'd have fewer semi customs but would still have a couple of full customs.

With the right stock, ammo, mounts, and glass factory rifles can easily hang 1/2 MOA...

I have quite a number of rifles that will out shoot me consistently. I am looking for guns (multiple being the case) that will do as desired when the trigger is squeezed and I did my part. Confidence in the gun is what I am looking for. Familiarity through use makes this second hand.

I was in a gun shop today and spotted a real nice Cooper in a 52 Jackson in a 30-06 slightly used and priced right. If it is still available in a couple weeks, I am highly considering buying it and making into a 6.5-06AI. Either that or buying a 26 or 28 Nosler in a M48 Patriot. Don't need any, but would be a lot of fun to shoot.
