What's the best pack for the$$$

Ok kuiu 5200 on a kifaru hunter frame. Will they mate up kuiu looks like a nice bag for 200. Kifaru seems to be the best frame. Will this mate up or are they to different

The Exo packs fit on Kifaru frames easier than the Kuiu. The hard part with the Kuiu is the top attachment point as they don't have the sleeve to go over the top. There are several threads on the forum of how to do it. SHTF tried a few different methods in his original post and there was a more recent post with what I think is the best way I've seen so far. They asked Frank to throw in a couple extra k-clips to do the top connection: http://www.rokslide.com/forums/backpacks/47846-icon-pro-5200-kifaru-hunting-frame.html#post506709

Since Exo does have the top sleeve, the hard part is the side compression straps as they are integrated into the K2 frame, you will need to get some from Kifaru to make it work. Also, Kifaru uses ITW buckles and Exo uses Duraflex, so you can either cut them off the bag and replace with ITW or ask Steve at Exo to send you some male buckles and replace the ones on the Kifaru straps; either way works. I have an older Exo bag that I run on mine every once in a while.

Just ordered Hunter frame and 5200 icon pack thanks for all the advice

Thanks we can see how they compare I've never owned a pack of this caliber SG or kafaru/kuiu

Totally agree.... the 5200 is a great pack and with the spread toe carbon frame its hard to beat. I think the Kifaru packs are a little over kill in the material thickness...their frames are great but not a huge fan of their pack options especially for the money.

Here is a 20% KUIU code or you can wait till after the season and get them for 30% off. CODE Link: KUIU $380 for the 5200 icon pro is a steal of a deal!

Good luck

Kifaru sent me an email saying my frame won't ship until 9/23

Sounds like what others have been seeing. 1-2 weeks for accessories, 3-4 weeks for packs/frames, 6-8 weeks for shelters. If you have a trip and need it a couple days sooner give Frank a call and they will try to accommodate if it's possible.

Well that's a problem !!!should have ordered sooner I guess I'm going to go kuiu all the way primarily because the have everything in stock. With that being said how do they compare in hunting mode cinched down running and gunning? most of the time I'm wearing the pack I'll be hunting and the 5200 will be my day pack

Try giving 1ShotGear a call, they carry some stuff in stock but I'm not sure if they have any 26" frames right now.

As far as the Kuiu goes; it compresses quite well. The only thing that doesn't compress as well is the bottom. For a day pack I would compress the sides as tight as possible and just use the lid, spotting scope pocket and top pocket.

Stone Glacier is no slouch either. I just got my pack from them in 3 days. I have 0 experience with anything other than Tenzing so it is like a night and day difference between the 2. It is super light weight and compresses down to nothing so you can carry everything or hardly notice it is there.

I've come to the conclusion that when you're outside the normal range for size (in my case big and tall) That shopping for a quality pack is a bit like having your options limited to who you'll ask out for prom to the fat girls.

Big might be an issue, but tall? Kurt @ Stone Glacier is a tall dude. ;)

The shoulder straps are all the way out and up. My torso length plus thickness the belt would not reach my waist about three inches to high. I would have considered longer straps but then load lifters would be to low

Had the same problem. The load lifters ended up at the top of the shoulder by letting the straps out so much that it was pulling my shoulders back. Did you try giving 1shot a shout or Corey at triple X archery to see if they have any kifaru frames in stock? Otherwise I would call Stone Glacier. I think they have most stuff in stock.
