Leaving next week, and trying to get things organized. What are you keeping in the lid for quick access? Puffy, rain gear, head lamp, etc.? This will be going into a guide lid.

Stuff I want easy access to so pretty much always snacks, sports drink bottle and buck knife. Depending on the situation often have maps, gps, binos, calls, flashlight, radios, layers, raingear, pack cover, gloves, etc.

Still deciding that myself. I'm thinking Map, Filter, snacks, My lid seems huge so probably won't be full by any stretch. Myabe my headlamp.

I have a rain gear pocket on the outside as well.

I try not to clutter the lid and only place emergency/survival items (first aid kit, knives, etc.) in it. I will take the time to retrieve more basic items (rain gear, gloves, etc..) from pockets and pouches, but the lid is strictly for items I want to get to immediately, if necessary. I also let my hunting partners know the lid has all my emergency gear; no searching for the first aid kit should something happen.

I stopped using a lid last year and have found I prefer not having one, only for early season. For later season I use it for warmer clothing.

Usually some sort of extra clothing (rain gear, warm vest) and a pouch with extra buckles, and my tags.

I like to start will just gloves and some snacks with every thing else in pull outs but by the end of a trip most pull outs are empty and every thing winds up in the lid

I have my OSK, snack, map and kill kit.
I try and keep it light: only stuff I think i'll need close by (I suppose the kill kit could go elsewhere...)

My lid can be used as a fanny pack, so I use that mentality when I pack it.

I have a small pullout with everything I would need to get by. Hat, fire starter, lighter, knife, compass, map, headlamp.
I always have a pocket rocket, titan cup and some coffee just in case I want to sit for a while. Kill kit in another pocket

I have a chamber pocket that hangs of the attachments. In there I have my trip teese, paracord, firestarter, Petzel e-light, 2 lighters, spare batteries, msr water tablets, spare compass and a couple other things. Then in the lid I keep my rain gear and water filter and sometimes my gloves and beenie.

I use my lid for essentials (most of them anyway). I keep a bandanna, headlamp, first aid kit, fire starting kit, maps other than where i actively am, spoon, fork, smokes, and snacks for the day, small puffy or fleece depending on weather. I keep my water filter in the same pocket as my bottle, and keep my active map and compass on my person.

I put my survival kit in mine. I also put my journal/pen, headlamp, and a cliff bar. I kept the remaining space free for gloves/hats I might take off. On the way in I will use the extra space for rain gear as well.

I guess I forgot that I should probably have my wallet and keys with me too. I'll probably throw them in there along with the rain gear, puffy, headlamp, medical kit, and snacks.

I see guys putting thier wallet and keys in there, is this for day hunting? When backpacking I take my ID card and some cash and and put them with my tags then hide my wallet somewhere in the car. I also take just the car key off and tie to the zipper handle in the chamber pocket. The rest of the keys get stashed in the rig as well.

5100cu without the lid, so I rarely use it. When I do, its normally snacks, hat, gloves, etc that I can grab without having to take off my pack.
