Have a 700 sendero 300rum that was free. Its in a krg bravo right now.

Barrel is about done. Badass round but way way way more rifle than I need.

If you had a magnum action laying around and wanted to make a canyon plinker/sometimes hunting rig. What direction would you go?

I'm more of a 223/243 guy, but sometimes a big rifle is a good time.

I have sold off every magnum
bolt face rifle.

If I were you I’d swap bolts. Build a 25-06ai.

No larger. I’m wrestling with what to even do with my .280ai. I wish it was a short action now. I might cut/thread it but really I’m at the point of seeing it as simply too much recoil.

I'd sell it, buy the rifle or action I wanted and enjoy. I'm not a fan of the R700 action, so take that into account. If I was going to have a magnum I'd stick with the 6.5 or 6.8 (270wsm for me, but I have all the components still).

If no mag, buy or build a 6mm, 233 or 25 cal of your choice.

According to your question, my go to magnum is a 300 win mag. I have a 338 win mag and I find myself grabbing the 300 win mag everytime over the 338. Mainly cause it’s just a nicer rifle.

There are plenty of folk who go for the smaller diameter bullets cause they can, and for the same reason I grab the magnums.

There are guys who love taking 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder motors and building them up to make the same power as a large displacement motor, I’m just a, buy a big displacement diesel truck guy.

Im a boring , proven, 243, 270, 30-06, 308 , 300 guy and I believe in owning proven 20 something’s and 30 something’s.

If you want a magnum round, get a magnum round, look at the 300 or even the 338, but I find there isn’t a huge ballistic difference between the two.

7 PRC. Easy as a barrel change and good factory ammo is available if you don’t reload.

338 Edge +P
As badass as the 300 is, the 338 Edge is bigger and badder for really long shooting.
the Edge can be a legitimate 2000 yard rifle. it's not an all day shooter but, it's fun to bring along with other rifles.

The RUM case is as big as really works in the Rem. Ya, there have been Lapuas but I've seen bolt/extractor issues because there isn't much bolt around the Lapua base. Also seen several bulged chambers.

Defensive Edge probably has the most extensive data on the Edge.
