There a few 'IF's' here but... If you can get a Thor that will load for you I think that might be one of the best options for you to pursue. Another big if is IF your Triumph will even shoot a full bore conical. Well that is not quite right either - most TC products with a QLA on the muzzle of the barrel will shoot Power Belts and because of that they may be your only option.

Another thing I THINK I have found is that a TC with a QLA will shoot full bore 'FLAT' based bullets reasonably well - so you could shoot a flat based lead conical like a Bull Shop or No-Excuse.

One last option, which I have not tried from a TC is shooting full bore 50 cal. bullets like the Barnes XPB's with a MMP sub-base or wad as the gas seal. If you look at this post you will see what I have been doing...

Shooting sabotless does take some preparation and a learning curve - so you may not have time to work this all out.

One last thought, not all QLA's installed on TC rifle will cause conicals to drift so until you try yours you will not really know.

This is a drawing of the possible problem with the QLA...

Sabotloader, do you know if there are guys out there having the QLA cut off the end of their TC's? Mine is very finicky on the load so I have sometimes wondered if this would be possible or advisable.

Several folks have cut the QLA and re-crowned the bore... Here is one example. If you look closely you can see the bore is not exactly in the center of the barrel, but the QLA is...

I've used powerbelts in the past out of my T/C Omega. They group ok. I wouldn't use anything less than the 295gr and would actually prefer the 338gr. I think there are much better options out there but this late in the game you might have to settle for powerbelts?

I also have tried No Excuses 465gr. They won't group with any consistency assuming its due to the QLA. I'll be shooting the Thor 250gr this year. They get great reviews and group awesome out of my gun. In fact it's the tightest group i've ever gotten out of my muzzleloader with open sites. One big hole at 50 and 75 yards off the bench. I'm using 90gr of 777. I'm not sure you can get any Thors this late though? If you can, I would try them Good Luck!

I thought powerbelts and other plastic jacketed bullets were not legal for Muzzleloader hunting in CO?????

I am using 300 gr Hornady FPB's with 100 gr of 777 out of my Accura V2 this year. Not much longer now.....

Power Belts are consider conicals by most states - because they are full bore diameter.

I have a TC Omega and shoot 90 grains of 777 with 777 primers and a 295 grain Powerbelt. It shoots well but I clean between each shot at the range when sighting in. Good luck

CoHiCntry, which diameter did you go with? If your omega's barrel is like mine, I'm guessing the .500 bullet. Are those bullets any harder to load than a sabot setup?

I settled on the .501. There still kinda hard to load, I'll probably try the .500 for curiosity in the off season. I've never used sabots so I'm no help there, sorry.

I'm going to try blackhorn 209, mmp sub bridges with some Barnes and hornady 500 Cal pistol bullets and see how my CVA likes them.
