I have decided to give building a 6 creed AR 10 a go. I plan to order a barrel from x caliber.

My plan is to shoot the Hornady factory varmint express which uses the 87 grain v max.

I’d like to stay 20 inch on the barrel as I’ll be running a suppressor. But if I’m going to see a massive velocity increase jumping to 22 I’d consider it. It’s a night hunting rig so weight isn’t a concern.

What twist/length would you go with on this setup?

Mine isn't an AR10 build but I used a Proof CF 20in 9tw on my 6mm CM bolt gun build and it shoots the Nosler 70gr B-Tips pretty well. I knew I'd never shoot anything heavier than the Berger 95 grainers in this gun so a 9tw was all I needed. Unless you plan to shoot the heavy for caliber ultra high BC bullets at long range I'm not sure you need anything faster than a 9tw.
