What to do with a pre war Model 70 Winchester

I inherited my great grandads 22 hornet super grade model 70 1941 model I hunt and use it Just very careful with it Blessed to have it along with his memories

Well I decided to keep the ole pre 64' all original and took it out today and got a doe with it. Was super fun hunting and carrying around this old gun from the 40's

Im not a fan of safe queens. Thats a really fine rifle and awesome that you got a deer with it.

As stated earlier, far far cooler than people whacking deer off a corn pile 100 yards away with a Christiansen whatever cooler magnum

That super grade is a super nice piece. Any pre 64 70 in 22 Hornet is awesome to own ( I’ve got 3 of them), but add the Supergrade factor and it gets exponentially nicer, and in the 1941(pre war) and it has all the bases covered. Shoot it if you like, but don’t ever part with it. You’ll never find another like it For less than the cost of a new pickup). If you take it out be extremely careful with it. A good collector can and will be able to tell every time it’s been out. Every scratch, nick, smudge can deduct $$ from its value. With all that said it will always be a very desirable piece to own. Take this rifle to a gunsmith and have it drilled and tapped for a good scope. Then maybe find a gloss 3-9x Leupold and it will still be traditional in appearance, but more useful. I see gloss Leupold scopes for sale all the time on EBay and the classifieds on 24hourcampfire. Congratulations on the rifle and the doe!
