Setting up trail cams yesterday and had this 4x4 walk in right behind me. We stared right at each other for several minutes before he circled downwind of me and started making a snort/wheeze sound similar to an antelope once you've been busted. Probably happened 20 times. Tried looking through ElkNut/CR videos to see if I could ID it. Initially thought it was a nervous grunt since he was trying to see what I was but it doesn't match up to the videos from the above resources. Thoughts?

There are two of these sounds in the video and he never spooks off.

Hmm, I put on the head phones & still cannot hear anything other than a branch snap.

From what I can hear it sounds like the elk was blowing his nose, no pitch just like you were trying to push out a snot rocket

I've had them bark at me. Weird noise for sure.

Sorry for the poor audio. The first one is right between 1 and 2 seconds and the second is right at 10 seconds in. The second one is lower in volume. The first one you can see the elk lower his head as he makes the sound/sneeze/wheeze. I think he is definitely signaling at me as you can see he comes to get a better look towards the end of this video.
