Use your driving time wisely! I’ve gone from listening to sports talk & music to podcast. Anything from listening to hunting stories, to the ones that talk about ways to improve!! I just added more to my list from this thread. Thank you!!

At some point, I've listened to all of them mentioned...

Not mentioned: Right to Roam. Its is my favorite and has been since this summer.

The problem is they eventually all run out of tings to talk about that keep my interest and I move on.

One none hunting podcast that I have started is red team podcast - pretty cool stuff, esp if you are interested in red teaming, some cool content with regards to gear, "edc" stuff, tech, security, planning, adversarial mindset, etc. Podcast — Red Teams

And, GB shared episode 26 of cleared hot last week (it was great), and I have listened to a few other episodes, along with him on onnit, redteams, and jocko. Great guy, great outlook on life. He just started bowhunting last year, so some hunting content mixed in.

I like Avery adventures, kafaru cast, rich outdoors, finding back country, eastmans elevated, Jay Scott, epic outdoors. Right to roam was interesting for awhile but don't really listen any more. I do pick and choose which ones interest me.

Right To Roam | You're entitled to your own opinions, not your own facts.
I'll shamelessly plug it because I am part of it, but if management conversations and public land advocacy are your cup of tea or you just want to dip your toes into the pool of conversation surrounding these topics give us a listen! There are some hunting stories and experiences as well but we try to focus on the the resource that allows us all to enjoy our time afield. Please feel free to critique and let us know what you do or don't like! Happy Trails.

ElkNut/Paul

Thanks for posting this! I listened to the first 45 minutes of it on my way home tonight. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I'm interested in listening to. Hopefully I can find more just like this...

I have checked out most of the podcasts mentioned in this thread, but I’m a bit overwhelmed. There are literally hundreds of episodes. Can anyone recommend any particular episodes they have found helpful? I’m interested more in those that provide info about improving success as a public land DIY backcountry hunter and less about other issues/entertainment. Thanks

There really isn't gonna be one that tells you everything. There is some great information in all of them but sometimes it's only small portions. I listen to them on the way to work so I can make some headway through a lot of them.

But to throw you a bone for your question... check out episode 26 of the gritty bowman. It's a 2 parter but it's one of my favorites.

Full disclaimer, I am not an expert by any means, honestly when it comes to backcountry hunting out west I know nothing but I felt like I learned a lot from that episode.

i finally deleted eastmans elevated off my cue. Sometimes they had interesting guests with some useful info to be gained but The host is a total goober and rambles on incessantly about self improvement without actually going into how he is improving himself. The last episode I tried to listen to was just him and it was a solo circle jerk of ego masturbation.

Check out The Rich Outdoors and scroll through episodes and you can find what you're looking for. For example, if you're looking for elk hunting tips the ElkNut has been on there a couple times. He has also done Muley Monday and Wapiti Wednesday last year before season. Cody Rich does a great job as an interviewer, a skill that a lot of want-to-be podcasters lack.

Haha yep, that host is a total dork! Anytime his guest says anything...he always sits silent for a second and then initially responds with “mannnnnn, yes that’s so great.....”

Huntbackcountry is one of my favorites and the titles tell you a good bit about the topic at hand. Mark does a great job and I think there has only been one episode I didn’t listen to all the way and that’s only because the guest was boring. I really liked the one he did with the by.land podcast who is a hunter but also did a through hike of the pct so you made for good conversation.

On top of the ones mentioned here I also like the sportsman’s nation podcast network. Specifically for the nine finger chronicles and diy sportsman to get my fix of mobile white tail hunting. Sportsman’s nation puts out a ton of context and I really do pick and choose what I listen to. The saddle hunter podcast is good for all things saddle hunting which is a new interest of mine.
