What Pants?

I am looking into getting a new set of pants for this years elk and mule deer hunts in AZ. I will be hunting in temperatures ranging from 20 degrees - 85 degrees. I have a few pants that I have been looking at and am wondering what everyones experiences have been with them. I am leaning towards getting the First Lite Guide Pant because I can wear it alone during warmer mule deer hunts and layer for later and colder elk hunts.

- First Lite Corrugate Guide Pant
- Kuiu Attack Pant
- Core4Element Highline Pant

I am not sure you are going to be served well with one pant to handle both extremes. I do not generally hunt in warm weather. I am going to hunt in Sitka Timberlines this fall.

I own the Attacks and the Highline. Have you considered the Kuiu Alpines? Those would be my choice. You can run a wide range of temperatures with those by throwing layers underneath. I like the fit of the Alpines better than the others. The Highline are a much looser fit.

About 1\2 the price of the other options too.. the green is a nice earthy tone and they are absolutely bombproof. Toughest pants have ever owned

hey Warrior i just picked up the highline pants because attacks were out of stock in my size. the highlines seem a little noisy. how do you compare them to the attacks. was hoping the highlines would get better after a few wears and washes.

The noise shouldn't be an issue. Although I haven't spent a lot of time in the Highlines. I have worn the C4E Switchbacks quite a bit though and never noticed a noise issue with either. I wouldn't think they would be any louder than the Attacks. I do prefer the slimmer fit of the Kuiu pants though. Less material to potentially get a "swishing" sound from.

I would recommend the Kuiu Attacks for an all around pant, but for warmer weather you should consider the Kuiu Alpine Pants you won't be disappointed!

My Attack Pants are great, but are quite warm. Not what I wanna be hunting in 85 degree temps in.

I have C4E switchbacks and Eddie Bauer guide pants that I wear into the 20s. I have heavier c4e element and Sitka timberline pants that I have never worn. I have never thought " I wish my pants were warmer."

X3. I got three pairs for less then a pair of attacks. Many places have them discounted since the 2016 fall model is specific sizing.

I do miss the attack side vents though

The attack might be too hot for moving around in the sun in 80 degree heat. The Alpine might work better for those temps. I think the Tiburon are the most versatile for hot weather. You could use the 145 base for the warmest weather mornings. Peleton 200 base for cold mornings and hotter midday. Or Super Down for very cold weather. Of course you could do this with the more durable Alpine pants as well. The Attacks are really awesome. But they can be a little warm to wear in heat.

That temp range is asking a lot from one pair of pants. I have used most of the pants mentioned above. I have settled on two pairs. I run the Kuhl Renegades in summer/September and First Lite Corrugate Guide Pant for fall/spring hunts. And no they are not to loud to bowhunt in.

Im spoiled..my wife works for Columbia so I get the whole family of brands at dang near cost...

You can usually score them online though for 60-70 bucks just have to search around for sales. I have bought a pair of pants and two pair of shorts at full price though and they are absolutely worth it.

Tiburons! Attacks are a little too heavy for me in the high heat. With a merino base they work great in the low temps too. They are really tough pants for how light of material they are. These or the alpines for sure. I can't attest to the highlines, but I like having the hip zips to dump heat.
