I have a Neoair right now but for colder temps I will be going with the xtherm. I am a side sleeper as well. Will be going with a EE quilt here shortly.
Thermarest can be noisy but I dont hear it when I am asleep. But then again I could probably sleep thru a tornado.

I'm running a Thermarest ProLite. It's OK, but I'm an active sleeper and it would be nice to have a little more thickness than 1", but as long as I inflate it pretty good I don't have problems with hip pain when sleeping on my side. Will have to look into some of these other options mentioned!

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'm going to wait for a sale on an xtherm. I've had q core and iac and returned both for warranty when I woke up on the ground. Looks like the xterm is super light too

Check out the Klymit pads. I've been eyeing the Insulated Static V from them. Everything I've read is how great they are especially considering the money.

Good choice, I'd say.

So what is the deal with the Big Agnes Q Core SL's? I checked one out and it was 2-3 inches narrower than the 20" listed. Has anyone found themselves falling off the sides, etc.? I love the pad but hate the ACTUAL width. Long/wide is an option but 72" is more than enough for me.

Its a known issue with the Qcore SL's. If you measure when its deflated and totally flat you'll get 20". I run a NeoAir all season I am pretty happy with it but I do have Xtherm envy...

So what is the coldest anyone has used an xlite in? I think littlebuff said he used his in the teens comfortably. Anyone sleep on one down into the single digits or colder?

you live in washington as i do. i went with an xtherm. in size reg it is 15oz, the xlite is 12oz. 3oz's for a more robust bottom and a more versatile pad for our climate. well.... imop at least. i have a all season as well and it has been great. sent you a pm.

The xtherm is more durable then the xlite and only a few oz heavier. They are a little narrow feeling IMO it's worth a couple more oz's to go with wide/long for comfort.

Measurements are made when deflated. When inflated you loose some width and length due to it being 3" or so thick.

I've had mine down to 12 degrees in a 15 degree Mountain Hardwear Phantom bag. I was fine and am not known for sleeping warm.

I'm running that set-up now; quilt and x-therm, sleeping toasty warm with no issues.

Does anyone have a problem with tearing air mattresses when setting up on rock sprees? I guess I'm just old fashioned or pig headed, I still run a closed cell foam mat. It's a little bulky but weighs less than a pound and if I lay it on a sharp rock by mistake no harm done, just move the rock.
