What Mt. Lion pose should I choose?

I shot the lion that I have as my current avatar in December of 2023. I decided to do a full body mount with Life-like taxidermy and pretty soon I will have to make a decision on the pose. I am just checking with the Rokslide folks to see what you all think for a cool lion pose.

Never have been a fan of any of the attack like mounts.

Wonder what a bedded down watching the room mount would look like?

Would look great. Have seen a couple laying on a piece of wood that looked great as long as the taxidermists got the face right.

You went with the right guys. They could show you pics of various poses which might help your decision.

I love the "sneak" pose of a life size Mt. lion. This taxidermist in Az does some nice work and his gallery shows some different poses. https://mogollontaxidermy.com/galleries/north-american-lifesize

If I were in your shoes, I would look at a bunch of reputable taxidermists web pages and try and figure out what you like. Taxidermy is so personal and what one guy likes, is not what another likes.

@Firestone post above mine is great looking in my opinion. Fantastic mount

I have a long running joke with my hunting buddy that when I kill a Tom he's going to be mounted lying on a log cleaning his wedding tackle........... :)

Make it 2 mounts in one display. I'm thinking a full body deer mount with the mountain lion on top of it and fully latched into its throat and extended claws

This was posted years ago and I thought it looked really good for a mountain lion.

That is a great mount. Realistic face makes all the difference. Big difference from previously posted mounts. Blue Hill Nebraska is home to a world champion taxidermists that can get the face right. Posting for anyone reviewing in the future. Todd is a good as it gets.

I would avoid any crouching pose or a pose with a hard turn as these minimize the size of the cat. Also I prefer a slight open mouth.
Make sure your taxidermist can nail the eyes and ear positions. So many cats are ruined by poor eye and ear positions.
Google mountain lion mounts, there are hundreds to look at.
I killed my dream cat in Alberta in February. Hide is done and the form and change out head are ordered.

Whatever you do, use the best lion taxidermist you can afford…because most cat mounts look terrible.

Here are a few April video stills from one of my cams of a lion that’s near my house.
The facial expression is awesome.
Very tough to recreate!
