I've used Avenza as well. It's definitely more for folks that can build their own maps, but it can be a very good system because it just uses a geo-referenced pdf. Folks in Fire fighting use it all the time because you can so simply upload maps that contain whatever layer you want to include.

Tried a bunch.

Keep coming back to two different ones for different applications.

Onx and GoHunt.

Man how far I’ve come. First time I went out west was with some buddies and I didn’t finish downloading all of the maps so I was pretty useless for most of the mapping.

Don’t be like me!

I use onx. Gaia and go hunt use the same satellite images on their apps. Just have different layer systems. I also scout a lot with google earth pro. Because i can switch the years/months of images looking at trailheads during hunting months. Nice to see the progression of old fire regrowth, changes in trails, and how long beetle rot has been going on in an area. Hope this helps!

I have a few apps and use them all in different situations. Some maps have different pictures that come in handy. Overall, I use OnX day in and day out.

OnX is my primary mapping tool but their Terrain tool sucks so I use GoHunt for cases where I want to look at slope aspects or elevation bands.
