What made this track?

I was archery elk hunting over the holiday weekend and came across this track.


I have a little difficulty determining what made this track and was hoping the Rokslide crew would have some input

Here’s what I do know:

No domestic dogs around
Northern Colorado
Elevation 9000’

Thoughts?

I'm going with cat also.
Looks a little wide for a yote, proportionally speaking.
Could be wrong though.

There are plenty of coyote tracks around and it doesn’t quite compare to them - at least to me.

I do have mtn Lion and bear on trail cam in the general area

One more thing.
This is an area where the wolf pack have been seen.

I was thinking maybe a young wolf pup?

If you are in known wolf country I'd call that a wolf track, adult are about palm sized and smaller could be young one....lower 48 wolves are not that huge really, maybe 75-120lbs on average.

To the canine folks, rotate the track 90* to the right and you have the pad of a feline.

Its really hard to tell.

I thought it was a mtn lion track.... then I thought, No... canine..... but not coyote.... Bear? not so much....? mtn lion?..... wolf?....

BTW - no bobcats around there

Certainly looks more canine than cat to me based on the toes, but without a distinct pad mark it's hard to tell.

Canines you can draw an X thru the track and touch nothing, and a cat is as wide as it is long generally speaking. Looks like both statements are potentially true based on this picture.

Not knowing where you are, and based on the fact that, TO ME, it looks canine and ~3" long, I'd guess fox or young Coyote.
