What kind of critter is this?

My father captured this on his trail cam. I’m 90% sure it’s a bobcat, but trying to be convinced otherwise. He lives in the central Sierra Nevadas if that helps at all. What do you guys think?

The spots on the back of the legs and the black on the top of tail and ears are a dead give away.

Caracle. Obviously not likely being it’s a half a world away but it’s ears are pretty tall.

Someone I showed was thinking like an exotic cat that someone had as a pet that got loose.
